Yeah. Higuain is doing insane. Keep in mind that he hasn't played much in CL though, which is what has brought CR7 and Benz' stats down + the luck of the draw has had benz play the tougher games so far. As the season progresses, that will even out. As it stand, the first classico will be Higuain's turn. The atleti game this weekend will be Benz

At the end of the day, 25-30% efficiency for Higuain would be fantastic and anything over 30% would be truly ridic.

For Benz, 20-25% efficiency would be fantastic and, anything above that, he's now a poacher lol.

CR7... 15-20%. It'll never be more just because he takes really tough shots. If he's close to 20%, he will beat his record from last year and may get 60 lol.

To put in perspective, Messi is in the low 20s in terms of efficiency and none of the other strikers on that team are anywhere near 20. Villa, for example, is around 16%.

We're actually a much better offensive team than Barca in terms of ours efficiency with the ball.

16 shots and 11 goals !! Just unreal Surprised
Btw, Benzema has started the toughest games so far, so his stats are great indeed.

We lack a lot of efficiency sometimes, we have to keep these stats rocking till the clasico.

Depends Babun. When you have 3 goalscorers on a team or the shots get spread around... that gets watered down. Also depends on quality of opponents, league, etc. You also have to take into account different styles (poacher, false 9, wing striker, etc.).

There are minimums though. And anything below 15% is crap for anyone. 20% is very good for anyone. Etc.

I'm too lazy to dig up the mins for the other guys lol. I just went to soccernet and used whatever they had.

Very happy with our front three this year. Very very happy. Hope they keep it up.

Also let's not forget that they have been doing a great job with pressing and helping out at the back as well. All in all they are sweating for the team and attitudes like that is the easiest way to get fan approval and support.

17 Real Madrid games in and Ronaldo has 18 goals.

Assuming we make it to the semi final and cup final again there would be about 40-45 games left. If he plays about about 35 of those games and keeps on current form he would have about 55 goals lol. Again we are obviously assuming he does not drop form or get any bad injuries.

I agree with you about the minimum percentage in efficiency but still there're players who are more ambitious from range or take very difficult shots. Also, some of them have better positioning= more goal scoring chances. Goals/ playing time is the best indicator eco smile

Great stuff, Sports. I was going to ask you how this compared to other top scorers, but I think you have pretty well computed them as well. It sure looks as if all 3 are at the top of the class. I think you have pretty well completed the calculations for most top scorers in Europe. how about Neymar?

And in Spain (besides Villa and Messi) how about Cesc, Llorente, Muniain, Negredo, Soldado. And Falcao?

These stats emphase what you said in an earlier thread about our top 3 being better than any other team including Barcelona. It also shows what you said in another thread about how young (and good) our team is. I really think we should keep these facts in mind when we talk about what possible changes might be made next year. I say first let's win some trophies and let's get Sahin into team before we think of any changes.

Supercup is not in the stats... that's considered preseason. If you include supercup, he has 10 goals and 6 assists.

Super Copa is a glorified friendly (wlthough it would have been great if we won it) stats in those two games don't really have any weight IMO.

Also it was Pepe who assisted Alonso not Benzema, Benz has 2 assists in two games against Barca.

Well everyone counts Messi's 3 goals in the super cup when they give stats about all comps....might as well do it for Benz

Putting all these together based on goal efficiency, the top 10 looks something like this:

Balotelli 70%
Higuain 68.8%
Aguero 61.1%
Cesc 54.5%
Benzema 50%
Llorente 50%
Soldado 50%
Van Persie 45.2%
Gomez 42.7%
Ronaldo 39.5%

There likely are a few names that we haven't thought of, but you can make a case that these are the best strikers in the world (right now). An exception should be given to Messi and Ronaldo (& likely Neymar) given how creative they both are, but these numbers are very impressive.

From a Spanish perspective, I surprised how much superior Soldado, Llorente (& I assume Negredo as well even tho we haven't seen his numbers) are over Villa and Torres who we always think (well maybe not lately in case of Torres) are in the top 5 in world. and on top of that, 2 of them are ex-Madrid.

Llorente, Soldado and Negredo have been great this season so far. Villa and Torres are only called up because of their names.

That's not exactly right Bill. What you're looking at is how many of their shot on goal is scored. I think it's actually more important to look at how many of the total shots are scored... that measures both accuracy and efficiency. For example, if a player only puts 30% of his shots on goal (on target), that's not all that good to me even if he makes a high percentage of the shots that hit the target. So looking at it in just goal per shot efficiency:

Higuain 40.7% (insane btw)
Gomez 29.1%
Aguero 25.6%
Balotelli 23.3%
Benzema 22.5%
Van Persie 21.9%
Falcao 20.9%
Soldado 20%
Llorente 18.6%

I didn't include Cesc and Muniain because they've taken less than 20 total shots each.
