Harsh realities of life after Messi and Barcelona

Quite an interesting interview with Arnau Riera. He was the captain of Barcelona B then came to England and signed for Sunderland. But had terrible luck with injuries and made some bad choices career wise.
Keano treated him horribly tbh. But im glad Quinny helped him through his injuries. Seems like hes getting back on track now which is a good thing.
It gives an insight into players who things dont work out for.
:p make sure you read there 3 pages the numbers links are at the bottom of article

Re: Harsh realities of life after Messi and Barcelona
I dont remember his name, nearly all of his peers I do though.
Intresting story none the less and its good to hear he "made it" at some level.
I wonder if freecat recalls him.

I suppose we fail to realise that the players we watch on TV are the lucky ones...

Very harsh and bad decision, he should have stayed in Barcelona rather than sign with Sunderland...

Wonderful article. A horribly sad story, it just shows it takes way more than talent to survive in the world of football.

De la Red was orgasmic, and it was only luck that kept him from playing.
Injuries and lack of them is dependent on chance as well, you can fall awkwardly and break your thigh bone for example, which will ruin your career if it was at the cradle.
While luck in not everything, it is the deciding factors between players of equal talent and dedication.
