If I'm not mistaken, Arsenal will play in the Bukit Jalil staidum, the national stadium in Malaysia, tomorrow afternoon. It loooks like this:

It's a multi-purpose stadium so the stands are, unfortunately, quite far away from the pitch itself.

Re: Pre-Season Friendly Thread: We're off to Asia!
alright, thats like wednesday midnight for me i think. Could be interesting making it to my 9:30 lectures the next day.
Decent size stadium - with their population and love for football, it would sell out right?
Not a big fan of the race track around it, My local team's one is bad enough because it's used for international cricket some times too, so it's circular.

So the match is being telecast where? Any chances of some half decent streams?

Certainly will be streams, but someone said something about ESPN casting an hour delayed. We'll be doing the usual process of frenzied searches 5 minutes before kickoff i guess.

ArsenalPlayer are showing the matches live, so I'm sure someone will post up a stream from them. Last year we managed to find a number of Arsenal TV Online streams, so no reason why we can't do the same again.

Arsenal training in Malaysia. Walcott and Miyaichi had a race; both finished at the same time. Exciting for new season

Miyaichi had Walcott's old no. as well in the training pics, I'd love just to put those 2 on the wings against a team playing a high line

Re: Pre-Season Friendly Thread: We're off to Asia!
We've yet to apply for a "special talent" visa for Miyaichi and may not even do so this year. Wenger is going to look at him in pre-season first and then he may apply for one if the guy plays well. No guarantee he'll get one, though.
If he doesn't, then he has to go on loan to the Netherlands next year.

Where would Miyaichi play, anyways? Left wing?

Re: Pre-Season Friendly Thread: We're off to Asia!
Left wing is his natural position, but he can also play on the right. At this point a loan would probably be better for him, since Nasri is staying and we still have Arshavin and Rosicky.
After that, though, a spot will be availabe to him, I'm sure.
I feel we should apply for a permit, anyway, and try and send him on loan to an English club so he adapts to the game over here.

Re: Pre-Season Friendly Thread: We're off to Asia!
Denilson got one I think, albeit he was a captain for for one of the youth brazil squads (can't remember which) so that gives you an idea of the kind of evidence needed for special talent permit. Tbh I think Wenger will go for it, and succeed, pre season will finalise his decision. Calling him a "welcome surprise" as well as raving about his performances in Holland all points to Wenger's intentions.

Re: Pre-Season Friendly Thread: We're off to Asia!
DenÃlson was actually quite a talent back in the day. He captained the U17's, I believe. Even in his first couple of years in England he looked to be a great talent.
I'm sure being Brazillian helped a lot. Who are you more likely to take notice of: a Brazillian kid who captains a team or a Japanese kid just coming out of shcool?
