This is WATER!!!
Roar of falling water proves once again how nature was such a force against this mighty Barca. Yes it's slippery, yes it's sticky, it's uncomfortable, it's cooling, whatever it is. However, this leaves a thousand wonders. One of it, in this kind of situation where balance, cognizance of space, composure, and natural intelligence, traits which Xavi is outstanding at should hold key, how could he not thoroughly dominate the other less-skilled players? Also, how could the ever-so-often-decisive-goal-scorer Iniesta didn't score when there was nobody tracking nor blocking him close enough and plenty of time was provided.
Do they never train in this weather? Are they adaptability are somewhat low? Are humble and respectful people become mad creatures when splashed with water? Are the magic that made David (midget) becomes Golliath dispersed when drown in water? What's your take in it? Rainbow will come soon

oh btw ,great OP.
Barca usually likes the field to be watered down a lot when they play to help the ball move faster, but it was raining really bad tonight i think

I don't know how is it in the highest level, but I myself played quite a lot in rain. In my experience, long hoof ball don't really work well as the top-spin bounce will be multiplied by the water slipperiness and it will either go out of play or untrappable. High ball do work though, but not in sniper-range hollywood ball, just flicks and loftings here and there; with that much technical skills in Barca you would expect them to be more imaginative with the balls instead of getting more panic.
In this shower of nature, if you are more physically stronger you can use certain ways like maximizing pace in space, and getting good positions while playing lofted balls. On the other hand, if you are a technical side, you should do more feints, more little flicks, as in this kind of situation the "weak" does not stand on their defensive ground as good as usual and the trick effects could be amplified. In short, you should go to the extreme of maximising your good points, whilst keeping the calm mentality to still follow the stream of the game.

Re: This is WATER!!!
I think players who play at the beach have a better understanding of what it takes to play on a flooded pitch. Little lofts and lifts towards team mates do the trick.

Yes, this is true. Even then the thin-water-layered parts could even be utilized in amplifying slider passes. That's why I expected Xavi and Iniesta to dominate as all other "normals" will slipper around, but the truth is

Messi hadn't scored at San Mames before this game and his goal was a fluke.
