Re: The Koscielny Appreciation Thread
Per was shat.... how can you even say he was remotely good ffs??? He was directly responsible for 2 of the goals. He got better in the 2nd half. Buthis first half was atrocious.
Djourou was crap too. Santos was up and down.
Kos really was the only defender at Arsenal who was consistently good. He's been good most of the season.

Hard to give major props to a guy who´s team let in 3 goals, but to be fair to him he individually had an excellent match.
His reading is really strong, nearly always there to cut off the line of someone trying to get on the end of a final pass.

Kos was immense in the 2nd half. Awful in the first.
I remember saying he was miles better than Djourou and pretty much every Arsenal fan on here disagreed.

Dunno what went wrong with Mertesacker, and it's hard to think who should partner Vermaelen

If you want some money, you can ask koscielny.
He had 50 million pounds in his back pocket today.

Re: The Koscielny Appreciation Thread
all arsenal defenders were meh in the first half letting ramires, mata and sturridge in from everywhere
but in the second half they all stepped up especially after ramires' and sturridge's substitutions which i didnt quite understand.... as he subbed in mouluda who is in bad form along with lukako(to play on the wing), yet he still had torres on which was literally full on mind breaking
anyways congratz on the win

Re: The Koscielny Appreciation Thread
Koscielny was good throughout the whole game for me, despite practically having no fullbacks for the entire first half. Mertesacker did a good job at times but of course messed up for 2 goals so it's hard to say he was a standout, although our entire defence improved in the second half.
Koscielny has always been a good reader of the play but now he's getting more aggressive and winning more challenges. It's gonna be a tough call for Wenger when all of our defenders are fit...

It's hilarious how Arsenal have the best CB depth in the PL after it was our supposed weak point.

Re: The Koscielny Appreciation Thread
But you know, according to the media, not sane people.
Santos can be great if he's consistent. He can rip out a great tackle then completely flop the next. He's also a beast going up.
Sorta like some other Brazilian I know

lol no our fullbacks are one or our strong points (sagna and gibbs are great), our weakpoints are CB as we need more cover. and we need maybe another AM, although wilshere is still to come back, plus we need another striker as we dont know how good park is atm.

Gibbs is crap defensively, besides i was more talking about your depth at fullback more than first choice.....
Sagna is class no question but rest of fullbacks at Arsenal are meh at best.

Re: The Koscielny Appreciation Thread
I disagree with your defensive assessment. No way is Gibbs better than Vermaelen, Mertesacker, or Koscielny. Our CBs are also providing cover at RB (Djourou/Koscielny) and LB (Vermaelen), so it's pretty obvious that our defensive talent is more central now.RedEyesWhiteBeard wrote:Immaculate_Mole wrote:Sushi Master wrote:It's hilarious how Arsenal have the best CB depth in the PL after it was our supposed weak point.

As for AM, I think we could use one, but Ramsey is growing into the role, then there is the improving Rosicky, Benayoun, and Arshavin. Wilshere has been best as a box-to-box midfielder for us. I guess we'll see what Wenger does, as always.

Re: The Koscielny Appreciation Thread
Injuries are Arsenal's weakness and LB... Santos, Gibbs, etc. are all crap defensively there. Vermaelen is very good and Kos is good. The more i watch Per, the more disappointed i get. If you're going to be tall and slow, you need to be physical and dominant in the box. He's tall, slow and a wimp. Really not what i expected from him.
