Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket - World Cup 2019 Special
So basically Australia are well placed to win the world cup again. It is not a perfect team but like I said they have a bunch of match winners that just step up when needed and win games on their own. Even in the last world cup, it was only two players that were consistently performing for them - Smith and Starc. Micheal Clarke dint even bat for like 40 balls in the whole tournament until the final ffs.
So even if their middle order is not firing at the moment, they will somehow make up for it through contributions of other players especially their match winning players. Truly legendary team that has bounced back strongly after all they've been through for the last 12 months.
World Cups are like a piece of cake for them. It's bad for the sport overall but that's how good they are.

Unbelievable. The mentality of this team is shocking.
They specifically created the pitches to be suited to batting because of England's batting line up and this is what happens when the slightest of pressure hits...
Can't believe i thought England could win the WC. India's bowling would batter this team.

As far as ODI's go, he's no doubt in the conversation among the greatest bowlers of all time. Unreal bowler.
That ball to Stokes...If there is a perfect delivery, that is it.

I appreciate the fun that Bayliss and Morgan have given us since the last World Cup, but this team's inability to adapt to different pitches and conditions is why it'll never win anything. "Keep playing our way" is great, but it's not gonna win us any trophies.
Problem is, now was the time to actually win something and we've blown it big time. Who knows what the team will be like next time.
Roy is such a massive miss. Might as well start another bowler instead of Vince. At least he will get a lucky 4. Disgraceful tournament from him. No idea what Hales did to not make the squad over him.

Guy is leading his team to back to back world cups in an era where the game heavily favours the batsmen. No exaggeration but imo he's the best ODI bowler I've seen for sure. Like I said, he needs to improve his test record to get to Mcgrath/Akram category and I think he'll do that in due time.

I just found an unreal stat.
England chasing in home ODIs
Jan 2016 - start of WC
Mat: 20
Won: 17
Tied: 1
NR: 2
In WC 2019
Mat: 4
Won: 1
Lost: 3
Damn do England wilt under pressure!

Wasn't this Behrendorff's first match of this World Cup? Like I said, they just have too many players that can step up when it matters few matches ago Richardson also came into the team and got like 4 wickets in one game and was dropped again
Never seen a team in any sport exert such immense pedigree like the Aussies in Cricket World Cups, maybe only Ronaldo and Madrid in their recent CL runs come close.

Hales did drugs and was kicked out so it wouldn't cause drama during the tournament. Vince is just shit, though. Cannot play at international level at all and has proven it every time he's been given the chance.

Smith and Warner haven't played in a year. Finch was in terrible form leading up to the WC. Kawaja is a test specialist.

What an incredible thriller this is. Can’t believe how much this pitch is turning. Santner unplayable. Babar Azam with a batting masterclass.
You wouldn’t think Pakistan have to chase just 238. This is still a mountain for their fragile batting lineup.

Pakistan keeping this world cup well and truly alive. Such an entertaining team to watch.
Rather have them over England in the semis just for the crowd atmosphere alone. They support they have got has been simply amazing tbh.

What an innings by Babar Azam in the end.
NZ still a great team despite today's defeat. Quite underestimated them before but can see why they were unbeaten before today.
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan all have a chance to qualify on England's expense now. Really has ignited the world cup.
-England have to play India and New Zealand.
-Bangladesh have to play India and Pakistan.
-Pakistan have to play Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
-Sri Lanka have to play South Africa, West Indies and India.

Again I repeat, Vijay Shankar, K Jedhav, KL Rahul are not world cup winners. Middle order failing again.

This Indian bowling lineup is world class ffs
It's enough to win you the WC despite the weak-ish batting line up.

Agreed. Pant and Jadeja have to come for Jadhav and Shankar. Rahul will be fine with more matches tho. He is just a bit nervous at the moment having to open. When he is on song, he is a top player.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket - World Cup 2019 Special
This World Cup has come to life right at the last moment.
Pakistan would be a strong position to qualify for the semi's if they win today, but Afghanistan, who have been rubbish all tournament, might just pull off a win. Pakistan need 46 from 30 with four wickets remaining.
If Aghanistan win this, and England lose their last two against India and New Zealand, it'll be Pakistan vs Bangladesh for that last semi-final place. Would be amazing for Bangladesh tbh.
Also, Trent Boult took a hat-trick vs Australia. Up there with Starc as one of the best left-arm bowlers imo.
