India beat Australia
England should too. Australia really should have lost to Pakistan as well. Not that great IMO.
New Zealand are interesting though. Rain has ruined the world cup. Table would be a lot different if all the matches happened.

It really seems likely it will be an India Vs England Final but there are some dark horses.
Imo despite beating Australia I'm not so convinced
Australia despite not being in full gear, know how to get out of difficult situations and win games
With India, if the openers misfire, we could really struggle. The strength of India has been the foundation at the top and if that goes missing, there could be a struggle. Same thing happened in the last world cup. We cruised through most games where our middle order barely got to bat and once those crunch situations arrived where they had to step up, they flopped.
Honestly I'd like to see some games where our middle order gets really tested. Our bowling has improved but I'm not too convinced about our middle order.
My money at this point still is an England-Australia final with Australia winning it again.

I think the top 4 looks pretty clear at this point though, no surprises there.
Australia, England, New Zealand and India will make the semis.

I am interested to see how India bowls today. But yea you are right about India's lower end batting. But their openers and middle order are so good that we have not seen it truly tested.
Those 4 are the best teams so far for sure. I don't really like the current Australian team so it would be a bit shit if they end up winning the WC.

Aussies almost chased our 350 as well before falling apart in the final 90 runs in 60 balls.

lol RG you are going to be surprised about Australia
I've seen nothing about England or India's lineup and play that makes them anything more special than Australia's good balance.

Batting-wise, England and Australia are quite similar. Explosive openers (Roy/Bairstow vs Warner/Finch), a top-class no.3/4 who holds the innings together (Root vs Smith), and a lower-order player who can smash it (Buttler vs Maxwell).
I guess what might favour England is that they have Ben Stokes, who can completely change games when he's on it, be it with the bat, ball, or in the field. Don't think AUS have someone like that.
I'd take Starc and Cummins over our bowlers though. India's attack is better, too.

Probably lol. I mean it's one of the most unpredictable sport. Won't be surprised if New Zealand win it.
Amir gets Kohli out. He really is a special bowler. One of my favourites.

336, would have been 350 if the play wasn't disrupted.

To counter Ben Stokes, I raise you Khawaja, Marsh, Carey, Coultner-Nile and even Starc who all can hit and give something to an innings if the top order misfires.
Moreover, I favour Australia's bowling options more than anyone else's.
Plus Australia is hands down always known for being good in the field throughout cricket history.

Btw, how does the format for this work?
All teams play against each other once and then the top 4 battle it out in the semis?

The good side to the format is that by the time the knockouts come about, it shouldn't rain as often.
Holding the tournament early June is not ideal, though.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket - World Cup 2019 Special
On paper, England have the best team imo. They bat till like no.10 and have a great balance but Australia have genuine match winners who could change the complexion of the game within a matter of few overs. Finch, Starc, Warner, Cummins are all genuine match winners. But their middle order is really average. Marsh, Stoinis, Carey, Khawaja are not all that.
This England team reminds me of that 90s South African team who looked quality in all phases of the game.
