hands down the worst experience I ever had in Souls and also one of the greatest, I remember being poisoned and reaching the bottom scrambling to find a bonfire as my health bar ticked down to 0 and randomly stumbling upon the bonfire with like 3 seconds of life left, to this day, from all the playthroughs I did I never went the non shortcut route after that first time

also one of the big reasons people hated it was because the performance was disgusting there, slow motion framerate, I imagine they've fixed that

Yeah, Blighttown was infamous for performance issues. It runs on 60 FPS now I heard.

I am not sure how you will feel about it because of the mechanics being quite outdated. I mean it's still GOAT but it might be hard to play after being used to modern mechanics.

If you end up liking it, definitely try other in the series. Specially bloodborne on ps4

it becomes obsolete when the game gets difficult, I was stuck on a boss for 1 week and had to backtrack through the game to upgrade a different weapon etc, really didn't want to since getting to that area was a major pain in the ass when I was a noob at Souls

I recommend the Claymore tbh, it's pretty standard, maybe you can't use it with your build? I think I ended up using it throughout the game my first time, after discarding the drake sword anyway. It's strong at +10. Just kinda boring to use.

I hope you aren't using a guide, saps the fun first time but you said you were doing Pyro I think, I can't remember exactly but I swear there's a really easy to miss Pryomancy teacher, and they can disappear easily in the story if you mess it Oh yeah, basically you'll find an NPC later in a bunch of barrels, ROLL into them to break them, don't use your weapon, he can turn hostile quickly doing that and completely f you over.

Nah not using a guide. Pretty much going in blind or asking you/other mate who is also playing the game.

I am surprised at how non-linear the world is. Every place somehow links to the firelink. And you get spoilt for choices as to where to go next.

People praise that aspect the most about Dark Souls, there's an amazing fanmade picture I'll post when you finish the game showing how everything links and interconnects, the design is great. A reason why people shit on Dark Souls 2 was because it was lacking compared to DS in that department.

Fire Link is great. Yeah, they suck lol. Did you fight the boss there yet? I had some unreal banter moments thinking back on my first playthrough. I was such a coward. I remember standing outside boss fog for the boss of lower undead burg etc tossing over dungpies to try to poison the boss to death because I kept dying to it fighting it fairly

thankfully it's small and I think I only ever did that area twice, always skipped it since it's mostly optional if you take a different route to where you're going

still, I remember being terrified of those butcher enemies lol

lol i fell in the swamp underneath and got ganked by 10 dogs and the butcher plunged attacked me

Went to catacombs for a laugh since i havent been to that side of firelink yet and noped the *bleep* out.

basically i have 3 areas to explore and i am shitting to go to all 3 of them

need a divine weapon for the catacombs or its annoying IIRC

definitely go through the depths first IMO

can't think of the other area you mean? Sen's fortress? just realized you get the DLC with this version right? that's really cool and has some of the best weapons in the game (awesome high dex weapon). You will 100% need to look up about how to access it though, impossible otherwise IMO unless you're randomly searching obscure corners of the map, think its last third or so of the game anyway, but DON'T finish the game/final boss before doing it since it does the usual thing of ending the playthrough

saw this area near the blacksmith with a massive armoured guy throwing lightning at you. Didn't bother going there lmao
