He's kind of stating the obvious isn't he?

Also I think there's a tremendous amount of respect for Madrid by other player, just not by other fans, because respect must be earned through trophies.

Achievements earn you respect. Many football fans today are young, and obviously haven't seen Madrid in all their CL/La Liga winning glory. As the achievements come, so will respect.

It doesn't matter.
He is right that Madrid have a VERY rich history.
And even if they aren't winning trophies, it still doesn't matter. Because, as a team, you never want to play against them, and as a player, you always want to play for them (even if a big part is about money).
People consider madrid as a joke (well, a lot of people), and to call yourelf a football fan (believing that) is a joke.

Who thinks Madrid is a joke? In a recent thread people were asked to name their top 5 teams of the moment and nearly everyone put them in that list. It's more than a little arrogant to suggest that since you're not being called the best anymore you're now a 'joke'.

In that same thought pattern, I think quite a few people should get off the "Barcelona cheats" mantra a bit but definitely agree with that Cule and Che loving Kempes...
