Fontàs signs on till 2015

Barça’s young defender has extended his contract with the Club through to 30th June 2015, with an increased buyout clause of 70 million Euros.

Andreu Fontàs is a central defender with plenty of future ahead of him and the Club has recognised that by extending his contract until 30th June 2015. The new deal, signed this morning at the Club offices, extends his contract from 2013 and the buyout clause from 30 to 70 million Euros.

The Club informed the player on July 4th that he would be part of the first team squad for this season and he has so far featured in just one game so far this campaign –the 2-2 draw with Real Sociedad at Anoeta.

So does Pep rate him after all and is just easing him in slowly? Or what other explanations do you have for this? Either way, I've always liked him, so well done to Fontas. Good luck to him and I hope this is a sign for things to come.

He played just 1 match ( starter) vs real sociedad this season.. its weird, that even against teams like osasuna & racing at home, guardiola didn't game him the chance, still he renews until 2015!!

Its a gd news, that Guardiola seems to have faith in him, hope he gets more playing time in the coming matches..
In the Copa, he should start...
