Re: El Maestro: Xavier Hernández Creus
Do you guys think he'll be coach of Barca in the future?
He's certainly got the passion, love, intelligence, and determination. Could be the next Pep

Like nearly all players while they are still playing, he denies it but I think so. I would also add he has the personality too.
He has an ounce of fire, just enough as to handle himself under media pressure. We seen hm denounce the anti football teams out there and have no doubt he would do the same as a coach, this time with a bigger forum for that opinion.

No reason why he cant coach us.Has all the tools.
But the way he has been playing this season, not anytime soon.Has been nothing short of sensational.

Xavi has misplaced 101 of his 2148 attempted Liga passes this season, giving him a pass completion rate of 95.3%

Re: El Maestro: Xavier Hernández Creus
Someone check his long pass stats, that are/were incredible.
There was one point in the season, where he misplaced 3 long passes out of over 120 or something to that effect.
Thinking about that for a second, 3 passes
Mascherano can do that in 15 minutes.

Re: El Maestro: Xavier Hernández Creus
Xavi is a great passer but I think that stat is misleading. Long balls make people think difficult expansive passes that have a high risk, I don't think that stat is made up that type of pass. He usually plays safe long balls that are fairly routine, like cross field into loads of space. But the main thing I wonder is the definition of long ball the website had? Because I remember a stat site that defined it like any pass that travels about 30 + yards, even along the ground. Like a keeper passing to a fullback.....

Re: El Maestro: Xavier Hernández Creus
Really starting to annoy me by continuing to play for Spain.
During the crucial part of the season, goes off to play for Spain while injured, comes back more injured and it messes up our season.
Instead of resting over the summer, goes off to play the stupid Confed Cup in Brazil in all the heat and humidity.Captains Spain.
Is seen barely running during matches indicating that he is dead tired. Now he wont have sufficient rest and wont be able to give his best for us.Really annoying.
Why doesnt he just retire from the NT?Guy has got nothing left to prove. One of the GOATS at NT level, has won every trophy there is to win and has been the MVP of an all conquering Spain side.Just retire and be done with it.

You are probably right. He is a supreme competitor. Its what drives him on even after having won everything and having nothing left to prove.
Still just wish he retires from NT football as at his age,it would serve us better if he did.

Re: El Maestro: Xavier Hernández Creus
Well his end is nearing. The ridiculous work rate and playing almost every game for the last 5 years has caught up with him. No summer break again. Has had one summer break since 2007, that was in 2011. His achilles is wounded beyond repair so management is the best.
How Thiago did nt start more games is just a mess. Tit is *bleep* clueless.

Re: El Maestro: Xavier Hernández Creus
I agree, I wish he'd take a break.
I could clearly tell he was not at full fitness during the confederations cup, and it showed. And it's not like he's going to get a large break before next season now that he played the Confederations Cup (and nor next season, either).
And if Thiago leaves were f*cked because Cesc will play when Xavi needs rest and that's always a bad idea.

Puyol is past it. He had like 145 knee surgeries since 2011. Xavi isn't past it. He is just overplayed beyond belief. He needs a 2 month vacation or something and he'll be back.

Re: El Maestro: Xavier Hernández Creus
I have read that Xavi has a continuous problem in his Achilees tendon which is kind of incurable and because of which he has to train much lighter than other players. I guess that might be the bigger problem instead of his age. As far as I know Pirlo who is one year older does not suffer from any major injury.
As for his retiring from international football he considered it after Euro 2012 but Del Bosque told him he must play at WC 2014 in Brazil and he agreed. He will almost surely leave the national team after that. alfred mentioned the back to back titles but I just don't see that happening. Spain's era is quite clearly coming to a close. Still he could put in a great performance of course. World cup is probably the best finish for any international's career.
Almost all of us would be aware that the maestro is getting married in July. 8th is the date as far as I remember. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to him from every single Barcelona fan.
