Re: Valencia Thread
Peter Lim tried to buy Liverpool when we were going through Ownership wturmoil in 2010.Bid £320m at the last minute and promised a lot but there were plenty of skepticism about him at that time.

Mr Lim, whose previous bid for Liverpool was rejected in favour of New England's, has an estimated net worth of $1.6bn (£1bn), according to Forbes magazine.
He made his fortune in fashion, logistics and agri-business.
His interest in English football stems from his ownership of several Manchester United themed bars in Asia - which have persuaded him that there is huge global potential for making money from top-flight English football.

Re: Valencia Thread
Yes, he also attempted to buy shares of patetico, but it didnt work out. He has been trying to get into football for a while now. Hopefully it works for Valencia and he doesnt screw them up like the dude in Malaga.

Re: Valencia Thread
apparently they're considering 4 other offers... lim's is heavily supported by salvo, but that's because it includes salvo staying on as president, so obviously he's inclined to promote it for his own benefit
at least something's finally happening though, marginally better than treading water and constantly refinancing the debt... in 12 months we'll be probably free of financial issues, whether through investors paying it off or bankruptcy...

Valencia CF wrote:"Valencia have completed the hiring of Juan Antonio Pizzi as the new coach of the club. The trainer arrives at the Mestalla after winning the Argentine league with San Lorenzo (and the Chilean league with Universidad Catolica in 2010). He is accompanied by assistants Alejandro Richino and Manuel Suarez.
"The date and time of the coach's arrival in Valencia and official presentation will be announced soon."

Re: Valencia Thread
Do you really think the E50 million war-chest will happen? Will there be any significant signings in winter! While they can do with some improvement in the squad (specially if they want to be in EL next season), I don't think they can attract players at their current state.
Another thing bugging me is, what is state of their loan! For last 3-4 years they sold their best players (and replaced them with significantly inferior players) to repay their loan. Now if that loan isn't payed-out, wouldn't the new owner be obligated to pay that first!

Re: Valencia Thread
They have decreased the debt to 300 mill Euros, less than Atletico and Barcelona. The problem is their revenue to debt ratio which is low.
Peter Lim made his bid 20 minutes before the deadline but it got leaked and some blood sucking american parasite made a last minute bid which is slightly higher than Lim's bid.
Peter Lim at least offered some football project to Valencia fans but this last minute american bidder have the upper hand since Bankia doesnt care about Valencia and their future.

What's happening with the purposed takeover of Valencia
according to Spanish newspapers I've read today, Peter Lims bids has been discarded
Spanish articles earlier in the week were talking about a bid coming from some American which was supposedly superior to that of Lim's

Re: Valencia Thread
I'm guessing this is the report you're talking about:

Inside Spanish Football wrote: American bidder threatens Lim’s takeover of Valencia
by TomConn | Posted on Wednesday, January 15th, 2014
Wednesday marked the final day that Spanish bank, Bankia would accept bids for the financial takeover of Spanish club Valencia and while Singaporean buisnessman, Peter Lim was poised to take over the club, reports from Spain suggest that an unnamed American bidder has presented a better offer.
Peter Lim
Lim had presented an offer to Bankia, who hold the loans and subsequent debts of Valencia CF, on a deal that would see Lim absorb the debts and infuse the club with income necessary for the once great club to rise back to the top of La Liga.
Everything appeared to be going to plan as news would occasionally pop up that there were other bids, but nothing that could rival Lim’s offer.
The two sides agreed on a date of 15th January to close the bidding, where from that point Lim and Bankia would workout the final details and make him the primary investor.
However, according to Spanish radio station, Cadena SER Valencia, an unnamed American bidder had reportedly submitted a better offer than Lim’s at the final hour, which could deny Lim’s purchase of a football club for the third time, after failing in bids to take over Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.
The report goes on to say that Bankia is expected to make an announcement within the next several hours or even tomorrow morning.

Could La Liga potentially become a 'BIG 4' league if the Valencia takeover is a success
All i wish for Valencia is club stability, i hope they don't go down the Man City and Chelsea route.
It would be nice to think that Valencia can spend the little money they get on players instead of debt.
People always go on about the small amount of money la liga teams get, but it's worse because most of that money goes towards club debt, if la liga teams were given the money that say Stoke City get then they'd probably be twice as strong, during these hard times Spanish teams have learned to spend money very wisely unlike many prem sides.

Re: Valencia Thread
Not really because the moment Simeone leaves Atleti they will go back to their awful management, bad signings and retaining coaches for only 6 months. Simeone has never stayed at a club for very long, either as player or coach, so I'm personally surprised that he is still around.
Atleti have the 3rd highest budget of the league yet somehow never quite managed to hold that 3rd place for very long, and this is because Cerezo is quite incompetent.

Re: Valencia Thread
It's possible, however it does depend on Simeone staying. If he leaves and Costa gets sold, then I can see them returning to their previous state.
In terms of Valencia, it's should be fairly easy getting that 4th spot in La Liga. They just need to assemble the best team possible.
