looks strong
I'm hoping for Inter vs United final but some tricky teams there that we could both lose against

AFTV needs to start live-streaming their reactions after games like this.

Ugh.....really didn't want Sevilla. They are excellent in this comp and now we'll have this annoying Monchi storyline to deal with.

Both Italian teams have both toughest possible ties. Inter can suit Getafe given what they build themselves off, the latter. Yet in Sevilla you just have a more in form team for the season whereas Roma have steadily declined by mid-season.
Inter-Getafe up in the air but Sevilla easily the favourites v Roma.

United got easily the easiest tie of the torunament They're Austrian, Inter have played against them in Uefa Cup '86

I know really not much about Getafe, I've read they're a sort of "little" Atletico, park bus , fight, etc
( I respect Atletico as club tbf so it's a disturbing comparison for me )
but I don't know much, never watched them , about their strenght and weakness . I suppose they'll have also weakness. And their best players ?

Re: The 19/20 Europa League Thread
Getafe are mostly how you imagine. Though where Atleti have clearly skilled players, Getafe do not and rely more as a cohesive unit to throw more skilled teams off-balance, frustrate them and rely upon a siege-mentality effect that has been working for them for the most part of the season. It is not sustainable and statistically they are due for a drop and lets not mention they are the dirtiest team in Europe as of now.
Their strengths are their defence, the workmanship of their midfield and the efficiency of their forwards to move the ball forward well but as a whole this is not a team confident in dominating better team nor is that their purpose. You would imagine they are disciplined but their tactics to defend and prevail are more scattered based on the best notion of the individual players strengths rather than a combination.
Their best player stand out easily. With Angel and Jaime Mata their most potent threats in scoring to Jason to Suarez their most in-form threats from midfield and defence respectively.
Conte if he is shrewd going into this won't hope for a balanced approach because Inter have yet to face a team similar to this and better to take risks against them rather than trying to nullify what they do best. When Getafe are pressed back they don't have the discipline to counter nor defend but in open games usually they will end up the luckier of the two due to their unorthodox style that has taken many Spanish teams by a storm. Not to glorify them but they are doing the best they can with the personal that is available.
I see it as a very tough tie for Inter.

I've still Alaves 2001 psychodrama in my eyes (That Alaves with players as Javi Moreno,Contra etc that reached final against Liverpool and knocked out Inter in quarters) so the Spanish teams less "popular" always scare me
Surely Inter can't play it with reserves etc ( as Conte wanted to do it, he wants to care about CL just if we get quarter finals), a similar wild beast must be faced with your best means.
The mental aspect will be crucial
Ajax fans, players, managements are still enraged towards Getafe.
Van der Saar even made a speech at stadium before of match against them
This Getafe wears down mentally.

Re: The 19/20 Europa League Thread
Getafe defend in a deep 442, foul at every opportunity and rely on set-pieces a lot. They can be horrendous to play against. They're like the Spanish Burnley.
Can't say I'm super confident of Sevilla progressing. Love affair with the EL aside, this Sevilla vintage lack firepower and attackers who can make the difference in decisive moments. Closest they have are Ocampos and Suso, both of whom Roma should be more than familiar with.

If you know Roma's current form and health situation then you'll be resoundingly confident of a win.

Re: The 19/20 Europa League Thread
The mental aspect is indeed the most crucial Robes as if Getafe aren't allowed to mentally wear and frustrate Inter it won't be as hard as it's been for many Spanish teams. Jay is accurate on his description as it is.

Re: The 19/20 Europa League Thread
Sevilla will wax us honestly, Jay. I know both sides are in poor form, but what gives Sevilla the edge is that they are completely different unit in the EL. They have a pedigree in this comp that Roma couldn't even begin to imagine.
Sevilla are clear favorites unless we somehow discover how to play good football.

Re: The 19/20 Europa League Thread
I actually fancy our chances in the EL, yeah
Top 3 though? lol
2 of the best teams in the EL are getting dumped out next round, if we can get another favourable draw after that, it's OLE IN

Getafe are refusing to fly to Milan and Spain will not give clearance for Roma's plane to land.
Not official yet, but looks like Inter/Getafe and Sevilla/Roma won't be going ahead.
