listening to french medias today, this is what i understand:
- Neymar plays a charity game for his fundation every summer
- the schedule is well established and he made it known to PSG over a year ago
- PSG authorized this last summer, at the time the sporting manager was Antero Henrique
- Antero Henrique was fired this summer, and replaced by Leonardo
- Two weeks ago or so, Leonardo told Neymar to come back in time for preseason
- Neymar decided not to come back because in his eyes, the club had already approved him returning on July 15
- And since PSG have decided to become tougher and not to allow diva behaviours, this is why you see two conflicting statements from each side today.

PSG, imo, are full of shit. they are the one who created and installed Neymar in this position of power, now they are acting tough. This to me is about optics, preparing a context where when they sell Neymar, it's easy to justify it to the fans and the medias.

Management changes all the time at companies and they have EVERY RIGHT to change the culture. Just because the last managers accepted numpty behavior, it doesn't mean that they can't pull the numpty stick back.

This "we acted like assholes last year; it was ok then and it should be now" excuse is a load of crap.

You don't want to show up? fine (literally). That's the cost. You don't get a paycheck.

I am glad my club is classy. At this point clubs will be desperate to offload their wantaway players to other clubs just to avoid Barca getting them. Like how PSG offered us Neymar just to spite Barca. Problem is Barca are the only club in for him, so PSG can't create a bidding war. Problem for Barca is that PSG aren't desperate for cash so they might just Veratti him if Barca lowball them

Unless it was written, a change of management would result in a change in how things are done and arrangements put in place prior. That's standard stuff as Sports rightfully pointed out. Now, if Neymar has a written consent from PSG then the club could find themselves in a court room and/or Neymar can fight any fines or punishment the club dishes out to him.

It is optics or as the Caribbean tends to say, it's grand charging but it's also something that honestly happens a lot when management changes. Also, does PSG fans really need this kerfuffle to really be like "you know, this Neymar guy isn't worth keeping"?

Re: Barcelona and their spending power.
They have a lot of it, that's never in doubt. It's their wage bill, most Barcelona fans would tell you that.

It's more optics for International media. you have to remember that PSG is a Qatar venture to expand their name around the world, to generate a great amount of good will. It's basically a PR wing for Qatar.

They made it quite a big deal signing Neymar, breaking the transfer record by a lot. Now if they have to sell, it has to be because Neymar is a terrible professional and does not deserve to be at PSG.

I’ll also point out that management overhaul doesn’t occur because things are going swimmingly well... if that were the case, someone internally gets promoted to insure continuity. This was an overhaul.

Neymar has been a massive diva, completely absent in big moments and he’s literally the 5th most beloved player at PSG lol. Cabana, mbappe, Silva and verratti (in this exact order) are the most beloved.

He’s been nothing short of a prick. Fantastic footballer... but such an asshole.

No sane Madrid fan would even dare to deny the fact that Neymar is a WC player. I don't even know why you claimed that some of us were downplaying him.

The reason some of us wouldn't want him at Madrid even if the opportunity presented itself is because of his off-field antics. But that doesn't mean that he wouldn't be absolutely amazing playing for you, and that we would really, really, really hate it if he signed for you again.

I hope he stays where he is or move somewhere else other than Barça because we simply don't have enough talent in our current squad to compete with you already, let alone with Neymar and Grizzy.

Yeah... and Mbappe had 39 goals and 17 assists in 43 games... with 4 goals and 5 assists in 8 CL games. Mbappe did this with no Neymar (only 14 games together) or Cavani (only 10 games together) next to him. All on his own as the only scoring threat and everyone knew it. Mouta-Choping was his attacking partner many a time lol.
