The guy literally begged one freaking player to score with all those saves. Jeez, only themselves to blame. Hoemw shit were their penalties. Only one good penalty and it was the guy who smashed it into the top corner

Sad for Freeza, Denmark were so so close to go through against the arguably strongest team left in the competition

yup very gutsy to take a second pk. all the pressure is on the player in the shootout. he also almost missed that pk. was gutsy taking it down the middle as well, goalies foot almost prevented that

For me great match by Denmark. Played a strong match.

I've predicted they could pass because I didn't underrated them (unlike of many tbh) and at same time I know Croatia limits in these types of matches. So not so surprised about Croatia.. stop comparing with 98 pls
cold hand of fate when you're "betrayed" on penalty kicks from your best player though ( I should say especially for Denmark now)

I wanted Croatia to win, for football's sake, but once the penalties started, I was 100% on the Schmeichel train. Gutted for him.

A boring game at times, but what drama in the end. Including an incredible penalty shootout.

Some really bad penalties today, btw, almost everyone in these two shootouts just trying to keep it on target.

I think this game put some brakes on the Croatia hype train. They were matched by Denmark.

Yeah I noticed that too. No one actually misses the target but taking the penalties like that means they are relatively easy to save.

. Good to see Croatia through as they are the better team and have been one of the best in the tournament. But gutted for Schmeichel, he was the clear alpha male during the penalties, dominating Croatia mentally Very Happy

The way I like to see it is that this is the mandatory "bad game" that a team has to play in a tournament. Just like Spain against Switzerland in 2010 and Germany against Ghana in 2014. But I do not mean that Croatia will win the tournament but I do think that they will get to the finals right now.

I think Croatia matches really well against Russia and after that they have gained so much momentum for the semi-finals that they will pull it off.
