Both are arguably among the best defensive midfielders of the EPL. Fernandinho's energetic performances in the midfield was the main reason Yaya shone last uear. Matic has been a kind of midfield enigma for Chelsea.

Better comparison is Fernando vs Matic than Fernandinho. Fernandinho is a CM that has a great defensive work rate. Dinho going forward is not comparable as Matic only surpasses him in heading.
