Look, I don't think Israel by any means is free from fault, but this is offensive. I would love to have a conversation about a "proportional response" with you, and how Israel consistently seems to go overboard, but to trivialize the actions of Hamas as a papercut is out of line. If you want me to find you some real pictures of the destruction in southern Israel from the attacks from the other side, I will.

Failure to consider both sides of the equation is the failure on both sides that leads to all this death in the first place. Don't buy in and make ti worse.

I agree. Would you agree with me if I classified Hamas in the same manner? Again, all I'm saying is to not trivialize the actions of the other side and the pain felt by the Israelis. It's real for both communities, and comparing it to a paper cut is unbelievable.

No its not. and im not in the mood to discuss it. but answer one Question :

If they are both to blame and they are both killers why in UN or whatever its always Hamas and Israel's enemies who get the blame? if all parties are to blame why no one can question Israel? why USA always supports Israel?

I think more than a few Israelis are embarassed by their own government, but that doesn't mean that Hamas is the new peace corps either.

Israel is overreacting again, and there is no excuse for that. But let's not pretend that Hamas doesn't have their fair share of murderers as well.

Funny, because I see the identical argument from every Jewish friend I have. The number of Facebook statuses I've seen in the past week (or even the past several years, without military action influencing it) about "why isn't the media reporting on the rocket attacks in Ashdod?" is unbelievable. The U.S. supports Israel; most of the rest of the world does not. The U.S. media generally paints a poorer picture of Israel than a lot of the facts would support as well. Tell me, are you from the U.S.? If you were, you'd have a hard time claiming that Israel's enemies are "always" the ones demonized, or that "no one can question Israel."

So again, I repeat, it is the failure to comprehend the other side of the equation - both by my propaganda-influenced friends from back home, or from the fairly large middle eastern community at my school, or the Palestinians I personally know from my time living in the country - that has perpetuated this conflict and made it worse. As in all life situations, if you think something is black and white, you should look more closely.

Hamas are in list of terrorists and Israel is the country who wants peace for world. it is what we see and hear today in general. and my question is why??? the rest are pointless to discuss.

if 1 person dies in Israel 20 will die in Palestine. but Hamas = terrorist, Israel = victim.

Rocket attacks are nothing compared to what Israel is doing in Gaza. if you can't see the difference then there is nothing to discuss. Hamas are defending themselves but its reverse in media.

there is nothing other countries can do if powerful countries support Israel and that's what i'm talking about.

Does either side even remember what they're killing each other over anymore? This is why humanity is every bit as monstrous as the creatures we think up on TV and this why I find religion to be absolutely useless.

Neither side is innocent in this. Atrocities are being committed by both sides and everyone who has prolonged this war has blood on their hands as a result, be they on the Strip or in Washington.

Maybe the government should start listening to their people.

The United Nations is literally the culpable party in all of this. They support Israel because they are forced to rationalize their own past actions.

I understand Israel's grievances and pre-emptive actions , and I understand the actions of Hamas and other terrorist organizations against Israel.

What I don't understand is how you rationally decide to randomly drop a country in holy land (that has been historically fought over for centuries) that does not belong to them.

What I'm saying is highly reductionist, it does not come close to achieving an understanding of the complexity of the events which provoked this, but to me it's the central universal point.
