Djourou signs contract extension

Great news. Not rated around here but he's a good backup and when in form is a beast (last season's partnership with Kos).

Agreed with Sushi. It's almost like fans have no recollection of last season where Arsenal were unbeaten at the Emirates whenever Djourou started for a long long time. He was a beast, and he's probably still capable of being a beast when called upon.
Name me 5 better 4th choice CBs. I dare you.

Mertesacker and Djourou are both underrated by us in general, and it's hardly surprising that they're the same type of player too.

What can we do too have the Djourou of last season come back?

He did a good job at RB sometimes, but it obviously isn't his natural position. Even Koscielny struggled at RB in the very few times he was moved there, and Vermaelen has been, by no means, stellar in that position (Could be faulted for both goals against United, for example).

He did what he was capable of, and never gave less than 100%. You cannot blame him for that, and he was never meant to last at RB for this long so it obviously exposed him more and more.

I wonder what wages a decent 4th choice that is almost always injured gets.

Would have rather seen that go to a CAM until he proved he could play regular football.

Wenger loves him he will be offered a 80k contract. He is a 4th choice CB but he getting first choice CB money. At Arsenal all players are paid equally.

How many games have our 5th place played this year though? Compared to the 4th place.

Djourou is more a CB/DM then CB/Fullback

For us he will do as a 4th choice..
Doubt how long he will settle for it.. He is not youth..
