Re: FA Cup Thread.
Well I'm quite happy to hear we finally have what you can consider a draw that we can relax upon considering how many big opponents we have had to face within the 2 cups.
Not much more I can say other than the draw should be taken full advantage of as it would be cruel to have us knocked out after being United.
Being complacent is the only factor I feel can stop us within this draw.

Re: FA Cup Thread.
After having Chelsea, City & United in the Cup draws, I was kind of apprehensive that we might face Arsenal, Spurs or New Castle.
Let's not mess this up. We have a terrible record against weak teams.

Well one thing is for sure, should we go through, we're most likely going to face Arsenal, Chelsea, or Spurs.....FA always does this to have at least one underdog in the final.

The QF fixtures will be awesommmeeee.
And how the hell did Arsenal win that match.

Apparently, both teams only had one half of quality football in them.
Honestly, I didn't think Villa played all that poorly. There were two (potentially 3, if you include Hutton attempted clearance come bank-shot off of Walcott) stupid decisions in their own box that lead to the come back. Don't get me wrong, the penalties were justified. However, if not for the penalties, you get the sense that Villa would've put away Arsenal. You have to wonder how much longer Arsenal can ride their luck. in this competition.
Back to the topic of our run. I'm rather relieved to draw Brighton. We've had an incredible path to come through in cup competitions this year. We deserve at least one lower league team. If we had needed to eliminate all of the other top teams, I would call shenanigans on the FA.
I do agree with iftikhar, however. We need to be wary of a "let-down" against a lower division team. Brighton played hard against Newcastle on the weekend. Newcastle may not have had a good day, but you would be hard pressed to say Brighton didn't deserve their win.

Re: FA Cup Thread.
The FA have decided to award victory in the FA cup 4th round match to
Manchester United this evening having accepted captain Patrice Evra's
claim that his team scored 10 times.
Despite 9 of the goals not
having been witnessed by the TV, players, crowd or referee, the FA found
Evra to be a convincing witness. Conversely Liverpool FC goalkeeper
Pepe Reina's testimony was found to be totally unreliable. He admitted
conceding one goal but could provide no evidence that the other 9 had
not been scored. On the grounds of probability, the FA have concluded
that the goals will stand and so United will progress to the 5th round.
Liverpool have 7 days to appeal.

Same jamminess that's hit the woodwork 17 times and have 6 or 7 home draws at home next to their name?
Well, I'll give you credit. It does sound like Rafa's side, but it's hardly lucky. :\

Re: FA Cup Thread.
Stoke isn't as good as people make them out to be, and not as good as last year. I wanted Chelsea but whatever. I just hope Tottenham gets knocked-out by someone else. It's the only team that scares me tbh.
Should we go through, I wouldn't mind getting the winner of Everton v. sunderland or Chelsea vs. Leicester CIty. Hopefully we can avoid Spurs.

Re: FA Cup Thread.
The good news is that Stoke cannot sit back and play for a draw from the outset, as they did in the league. This plays to our advantage as long as our defense is organized and doesn't let them nick a cheap goal. Certainly helps that it's a home tie for us.

Re: FA Cup Thread.
Stoke can do just that, why would they change their gameplan?
It might be pessimistic but I'm a bit disspointed by the way the seasons's panned out despite the excellent Cup runs. But hey, cups are where Liverpool thrive, it's hardly surprising.
Hopefully we get a match similar to the match that originally got me interested in Liverpool.
Edit: Sometimes get confused between the Carling and FA cup especially when they overlap.

I can see Stoke sitting back and aiming for a replay at Britannia, honestly.

Re: FA Cup Thread.
Red i think that will be their main objective. Hopefully we can get an early goal so it opens them up a little. It's important to have Suarez, Bellamy, downing type dribblers against Stoke. Carroll would be pretty useless with their giant CB's.

Carroll of 2 months ago, yes.
Carroll of now, would eat Showcross and Huth alive

Re: FA Cup Thread.
I'm not sure I'd considering Downing as the type who could unlock Stoke. I'd probably play Henderson, Bellamy, Suarez, and Gerrard and tell them to interchange around/behind Carroll. Though if Downing can carry on with performances like he put in against Brighton he'd certainly be in with a shout.
