Do you consider Messi a clutch player?
Given his record against Madrid and in Champions league, and the fact that he performed very well at World cup (I know people who haven't watched him will point to his goal tally and argue against this point), do you think he has earned the right to be considered a Big game player?

He is, he was pretty good even against Germany, the numbers just don't show "almost goals", Messi never disappears, and even if you don't see much of him, it takes like 3 defenders to keep him that quiet.

Assist vs Chelsea for Iniesta, goal in both CL finals. Destroyed Arsenal twice, epic games during CL 09. Brilliant vs Madrid in all fixtures last season and the year before........... But........
He was contained by Zanetti and Inter

I've seen Messi being "contained" by many teams. Which means you still shit your pants, just that he doesn't score any goals.

To answer you question, NO. Not at all.
He still has to score in a cold night in the Britannia Stadium

Couldn't do it on a dry, cold & humid Wednesday night against Ashley Cole at the Bridge though!

not scoring a goal = being contained according to your logic, looks like every team Barcelona has faced has contained Mascherano this season since he didn't scoreSushi Master wrote:I've seen Messi being "contained" by many teams. Re: Do you consider Messi a clutch player?
I guess you didn't get the sarcasm. My point is that Messi is always a threat, even when he doesn't score.Lionel Messi wrote:not scoring a goal = being contained according to your logic, looks like every team Barcelona has faced has contained Mascherano this season since he didn't scoreSushi Master wrote:I've seen Messi being "contained" by many teams.
