Real Madrid target Robin Van Persie

Robin van Persie is a target for Real Madrid.

Frustrated Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh has confirmed his interest in rejoining Bordeaux at the end of the season.

With the Gunners currently playing only one man up front and Robin Van Persie currently in sensational goal-scoring form, Chamakh has been restricted to just six appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

As a result, the Moroccan feels that he would be best served by a move away from the Emirates, pointing out during an interview with TF1’s 'Telefoot': “I’m 27. I need to play. I cannot stay like this forever.”

“It would be Bordeaux. I am committed to this club.”

In spite of his current frustration at being consigned to the role of a reserve, Chamakh insisted that he will not push for a move during next month’s transfer window.

"I will not leave in January,” he stated. “[I will make the] important decision in June.”

Chamakh joined Arsenal on a free transfer from Bordeaux last summer, but despite making a positive start to life in north London his form dipped dramatically during the second half of the season and he has been playing a bit-part role ever since.

Sounds like Chamakh is leaving next summer then.

If Van Persie stays fit, Chamakh will barely play again for Arsenal then.
