Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
That's what I thought. Young is more of a traditonal winger, while Reus always struck me as more of a forward playing out wide. I can only imagine Honigstein hasn't seen Ashley Young all that often.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Reus would be a good signing for me, quick, skillfull and direct which I think we need to build on. We've seen Gervinho's impact with his directness, he might be frustrating at times because he loses the ball sometimes but there's no doubt his attacking has helped us immensely. More quick, direct wingers and we'll be a very good counterattacking team with a lot of technical ability as well. His age worries me though, I would prefer Podolski just because he a few years older and has got a lot more experience but I wouldn't turn Reus down.
Signing Reus/Podolski maybe a CF like Oliver Giroud and another midfielder like Granero would be a very successful winter transfer window. I don't think we will get Goetze or Hazard so I'm just trying to think more realistically. I only see 2 signings at Winter at most though.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
i just want someone who will light up our wings *looks at Hazard*. as i said before, we have too many decent CMs. and we have 3 strikers for 1 position plus 3 on loan. even though two of them are below average imv. and i still do not see what difference Granero will make. imv, people are underrating our creative of the game a lot. we just need time to click, and we will be creating and missing 20 chances a game again

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Konstantin Liolios, the agent of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz, has made it clear that Arsenal are interested in his client but are yet to approach him.
"We are aware of the English interest in Kevin. However, there hasn't been any personal contact with Arsenal so far," Liolios was quoted as saying by Bild.

Soooo we're after Grosskreutz and Goetze? Let's keep with Reus if we can't get Goetze

Also wanted to say that I'm very happy that Wenger is looking in Germany for talents. So much talent and cheap.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
I've spoken with some of the German posters on this forum, and they say that Blid, the paper breaking the Macro Reus story, isn't very reputable. So I'd be weary of that one.
On Grosskreutz; tremendous work rate, not so much ability. Not my first choice when it comes to talent from Germany.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
It's so sad how underrated Walcott is. I'd have him over Reus any day. Just because he is going through a rough patch right now (Only a few games, actually) doesn't mean that he's worse overall.
If we buy Reus, I wouldn't play him as a starter

So if there's been no contact with Grosskreutz then how are they aware of interest? Scouts? Well I'm all for German talent, as it was said before, cheap and efficient.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Of course that Walcott is first choice, but he and Arshavin both are being inconsistent, so depth wouldn't harm. Manchester United for example keep Valencia in bench, who is very good to be in bench.
I've a question, what do you think, if Goetze who is young comes - would that mean that Ozyakup's and Freeman's [who are beasting the reserves teams] chance of breaking into the team are killed?

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
It doesn't really bother me either way if we get Reus or not. I like him, and I can see he'd add more depth to an area that needs it, but I don't see the signing as necessary.
Ozyakup plays deeper than Götze, so he wouldn't be blocked off. Freeman isn't really that talented and wouldn't break into the first team regardless, unless he does a Jay Simpson or something.
It's of little concern, though, since we're not signing Götze.

I questioned because i'm a huge fan of Ozyakup, and don't want him to be over-shadowed by a new signing. If so good.
And Jay who do you think should Arsenal sign? Or do you think we don't need a new signing, since you consider Reus as not necessary.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
I consider him not necessary for the time being. In the summer, though, I think we need freshen up our attack a bit with a winger and maybe a striker if Chamakh and Park don't work out. I think we have decent depth in most areas, but we're still totally reliant on the front three to perform in order for us to score.

Guys i cant see us signing the likes of Götze and Hazard. We might get Reus but i do agree with Jay that he is not a necessary signing unless Arshavin leaves.

Goetez or Hazard is needed, you have to be kidding me if you think they are not needed. We have many promising youngster but none of them can be compared to proven talent. I am tired of waiting for promising youngster to develop.
We will be losing big name players waiting for promising youngsters.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Borussia Dortmund winger Kevin Grosskreutz has welcomed interest from Arsenal.
The Daily Mail says Grosskreutz has admitted he would welcome a big-money move to The Emirates.
Borussia Dortmund's attacking midfielder, watched by Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley as he scored the only goal against Olympiakos last Tuesday, is under contract until 2014.
But his agent Konstantin Liolios revealed that he had been made aware of interest from Arsene Wenger, while the 23-year old Germany international said: "If I do ever leave Dortmund, I would like to go to the Premier League in England, and my favourite club there is Arsenal."

Germany coach Joachim Loew says Lukas Podolski is good enough for Arsenal.
Arsenal are chasing the FC Cologne forward ahead of the January market.
Asked about the speculation, Loew said: "I cannot decide for him, this is a choice he must make with his family.
"But I do think that Lukas' level is of a top European club."

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Olympique Marseille want to bring Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh back to France in January.
The Morocco international, a Bosman signing from Bordeaux last year, has failed to make a major impact with the Gunners.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is prepared to sell Chamakh in the New Year - but only for the right offer.
Chamakh is wanted by Marseille coach Didier Deschamps, though Everton and Sevilla are also monitoring his situation.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to withdraw his bid for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill.
The London Evening Standard says Arsenal will not enter into a bidding war.
Although Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley recommended Cahill directly to Arsene Wenger and the club could substantially improve on the player's £30,000-a-week wage, it is believed the Arsenal manager no longer sees a deal as good value for the club.
Furthermore, Wenger has publicly declared the Gunners now have enough centre-backs following the August capture of Per Mertesacker from Werder Bremen for £8m - the same sum that was offered for Cahill over the summer.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Getafe midfielder Dani Parejo is weighing up a January move to England.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the gifted midfielder but it has been reported that Everton and Fulham are the English clubs currently leading the chase.
Parejo has taken two days off to decide his next step and discuss his future with his agents but it has been suggested that a January loan departure is now the most likely scenario.

Chelsea are chasing Real Madrid junior Jose Pozo.
The 16 year-old is also interesting Arsenal as he considers leaving Madrid.
The Mirror says Chelsea are favourites to sign young striker Pozo next summer as he is ready to quit Spain.
