Mário Fernandes is a very promising young right-back/central defender at Grêmio. He was signed from São Caetano about a year ago and he felt homesick and escaped the Olímpico all the way to São Paulo by bus, he was a run away teenager, everyone was scared he could have been dead. This was around March this year. Then he explained he felt the weight of too much pressure and he wanted to retire from football before even being given a true chance. Anyway, he got some playing time slowly and progressively, no one wanted to burn him out at Grêmio, he was deemed a great player for the future indeed. And he is delivering it since his first match, the last GreNal, when he was surprisingly the starting right-back when few would have thought he could do something else than central defense. The boy can run, he thinks while running and his positioning is precise. He is full of technique, and dare I say he'll be an international soon. He's developing really fast.
