Frimpong would make it into the England NT within the next year, easily. I honestly don't care if people disagree, because they probably haven't seen him as much as I have.
England just lost out big time. Have fun with Barry...such a useful player..

A Frimpong-Wilshere midfield in Arsenal would have done wonders for England, too, just by the pure chemistry there'd be.

I find it strange a country who are known as footballers to be hard working, tough, gritty, never afraid to tackle cant produce one single worthy DM.
I mean sure, there is a lot more to the job then that, but come on....Barry...

Yh everytime we discuss England you bring it up lol, nothing wrong with that its a worthy topic as it is confusing how we dont seem to produce dm's i myself dont understand it either tbh.

Never noticed. Im clearly getting old, cant remember alot of things.
Anyway, yeah, I find it rather strange because its not like the usual lack of technical ability problem most people assign to England. This is something I dont quite understand why they have a problem with.
Perhaps the English just have lesser physical athletes to supplement those attributes I mentioned.

How is it that 1 player doesn't choose to play for England and it's all gloom and doom isn't their other DMs in the promising generation.

Surely the formation is chosen on the players you have, rather then the other way around?

Jones played DM a lot for Blackburn.
I liked what I saw of Frimpong vs us, but come on guys. This lad has played 70 minutes of PL football in his ENTIRE CAREER, and now him choosing Ghana is a disaster for England? god, either people are amazing at hyping their youngsters, or I am so shit at doing that.

I think to be honest, its more the fact England have noone else who remotely looks like a full time defensive midfielder coming through.
Frimpong looks like a man-child of a player now, but I dont think anyone is calling him the second coming of Makelele. Its just England really have noone else.
I would hate to see Jones forced to do it, because he is so good at the back and looks like a defensive leader. My stream was bad, but it very much looked like it was he who was bossing Evans around and directing him when I saw them play together.

Whatever happened to Jack Rodwell... the most overhyped youngster since FM discovered him.
With Jack Wilshere in the team... you dont really need an anchor.

Never understood that hype, never saw anything overly special from him.
And why not? Wilshere is great and all, but I dont see him as a great defensive player so how will that all work out?

He played as deep lying playmaker last season for most of his games. His off the ball movements were as deep as Songs. covering the area and protecting defenders. Very disciplined.
Sometimes I wish we had two Wilsheres so when one holds back the other goes forward with that technical ability and super passing skills.
Song often made some runs but he barely made it to final third.
What im saying is, a DM with Wilshere has to have some extra creative skills.

Sure, but he cant really tackle though and with his physique, there is only so much he can do. He is smart, can read the game and intercept, but he isnt noticeably elite at that either. I remember Erikson running riot with him being asked to play a holding type role.
I think him and another player who cant defend very well, isnt a good idea against elite opponants.

Re: Frimpong
England don't produce DMs because they seem to be a 4-4-2 machine who only produce dedicated, hardworking players, but not the dedicated defensive beasts that are needed for another formation.
At least the U21 is switching to 4-2-3-1 at last, right?
