It's ok, I got used to it. We're all pretty pagan in this board with Gods pretty much everywhere. The Fonz wrote:sciacca wrote:Pinguino, I'm telling you... Wiggles = God ! The man is a genuis ! What an epic post. I also agree with you.
I hope Sushi Master doesn't see this...
Italy are a good side, never to be underestimated.
The bias sometimes is a little extreme... but yeah.
I love me my Italian food and women.

Italia are doing splendid. Only thing is to find a replacement for Pirlo as come 2012, I do not feel that he will be at the level to be depended on each and every game.
Besides that, loads of options in all positions.

I though Marchisio would be his replacement.
Still haven't given up on him.

For Pirlo ? I do not think so exactly. Marchisio to me is a jack of all trades, he does everything evenly and is well-rounded, but he does not excel necessarily at one thing, which is a very good thing but at the same time he is not a specialist.
A creative player is needed, a playmaker of sorts. If Cassano dropped about 20 pounds I would say he would do, with Poli perhaps gaining opportunity maybe leading up to 2012, and if not, after that. Aquilani showed some promise as well.

Also, I really dont get the whole '4 World Cups' thing. I mean, two of them are from the 1930s, and another from the 80s. They have no relevance whatsoever. Saying 'We won the first 5 European Cups, therefore Real Madrid is the greatest' makes more sense than that.
I guess you don't quite get it. Italy is the only team that has continuously been a winner and contender from the 30s to the 2000s. And, you may be unaware of the fact that Italy was the last World Cup winner before Spain in 2006. Young people just don't get it, yet the statistics are there for anyone to see.

I am sure you would prefer to have 3 World Cups instead of 4.
But, how can Germany be better than Italy when Germany has never beaten Italy in a World Cup competition and Italy has always eliminated Germany in the competition? Is this what is called German "counterintuitiveness".

The Roman Empire was destroyed by the Turks. The Eastern Roman Empire that is.
The Vatican is the heir of the Roman Empire, they just decided to go for the spiritual, it was just as lucrative and less risky.

And the Germans rule the Vatican - case and point.
Footballing wise Italy totally reminded all of us that Spain used to be chokers though, I hope Spain remembers that as well during the Euros.
That trophy really should be ours.
(Suck it, Italians, you got the 2006 WC, we have to win a trophy now - it's just our time now. Get in!)
PS: Also, come on, you already got the Mediterranean, nice weather and Monica Bellucci, just leave us the Euros and hte WC FFS!

That was one time buddy, but it's alright, last time I checked, we beat Germany in Germany in the Semi Finals, to win the World Cup. Though, if you'd rather be in a squad who loves choking each and every time, going far, but not winning in recent years, then by all means keep doing it.

Hmm, add to the fact they havent been able to defeat us in 16 years, but it's alright. Germany can keep dreaming about beating us in the World Cup, because to bad for them they never will. 1970 they tried, nope. 2006 they tried, choked. We did in their home country, we did it with one of the best games in the century, what do you want Germany? You want us to go easy on you next time? Granted, with a growing squad we have now, Germany were still not able to beat us, I wonder why...

Your point? Since when do Euro's correspond to World Cups? When you look at a nation with success, we judge them by how many World Cups you have, not by how many Euro's you got. Fifa ranks us Second in the World Historically for a reason. You can have 5 Euro's in the world, that will never equal up to one World Cup, sorry to say

Re: Are Italy the best of all time again?
I brought that up a few threads ago and he said Euros are insignificant trophies and anyone would prefer 1 WC to 50 Euros.

Of course, who wouldn't? You admire what you please, I will admire my Four World Cups, while you admire your 5 Euro Cups. Tobad our trophies considered us the best on the planet and yours only in Europe. Though, facts don't lie, Fifa makes us the second best squad on the planet historically, so let it be. Opinions, can't overtake facts, It's reality.

Re: Are Italy the best of all time again?
But you can get to a WC final by going through crap teams from weird continents, at the Euros you get like France, Italy, England and shit on the way to the top?
I mean I'm not disputing the higher prestige of the WC, I just think it's harder to win the Euros.
Also: Let's stop the trolling for a second there, and let me try that argument that never worked with wiggles on the old forums again:
History doesn't actually matter at all, when talking current squad strengths. Like how Italy flunking out at the group stages in 2010 won't be relevant in 2012, because they got a new manager and a couple new players.
They aren't playing with Baggio anymore, and for us, the Kaiser retired.
Wasn't it pretty refreshing to see the current Italy just run past Spain, the defending World Champions?
And yet, historically speaking, Spain is nothing compared to the likes of Uruguay. Shouldn't, using Sciacca/wiggles-logic Spain be much, much worse than France or Argentina? Or be roughly equivalent to England?
Can we stop the wankfest for a second and look at the current squads of current teams when discussing current matches and chances for the upcoming tournaments?
Or are we gonna talk about how Varus lost his legions at Teutoborg forest again?

Re: Are Italy the best of all time again?
The Euro is not taken too seriously. In 2008 it was more of an experimental squad for Italia, bringing a lot of young guys up.
The World Cup is where it is at. That is why it is taken more seriously. It is like saying you have more domestic trophies like Coppa Italia so it outweighs the CL trophies.

Oh really? Then may I ask how Germany haven't won more then us if the World Cup is easier? I can tell you this, you've never beaten us at the World Cup, which already justifies our superiority over you within results and not success. Though, that may be the case in the group stages, after the knockout rounds you do face difficult oppositions, so I really don't understand your logic. Both European, and South American. Most Asians nations don't go far anyways.
Our past in 2010 had to do with a stubborn coach who never called up our star players. Balotelli, Cassano, Rossi, Giovinco and the list goes on... We relied on guys like Pepe who were headless chickens and were not able to play good enough for us and surely never deserved it. But I got to completely disagree about how History does not matter. Most squads who won the world cup in the past in the next tournaments did not do well after, MOST, not all. So history in fact implies a lot. History also show's the strengths of your squad, Italy is Italy and Germany is Germany. Both squads are looked upon from both their historical and present, in which History is once again revelent.
By the way let's look presently now, so your telling me, a squad like Italy now will be doing the same thing in 2012 just because of a few new players which is false, more than a few and a new manager? Hmm, let's put this into perspective. You got Italy who was dropped all the way to 16th in the Fifa Rankings, and only in a span of year, we went up all the way to 6th spot in the Fifa rankings able to be part of Pot 1. Undefeated in qualifications and one fixture away from qualifying? Shall I remind you, Germany weren't able to beat us, nor was Spain? Making is already a contender for the title as well now. Presently speaking, Germany and Spain are better and me and Wiggles never mentioned we were superior to them presently, we are just backing up to prove, we are a great team who can achieve great things soon and we will be back on top sooner than later, BECAUSE HISTORY PROVES IT.
