According to this map, Reading has not been hit by any riots or looting.
Usually, it's the worse areas in the cities that are being effected. The "posh" areas have remained uneffected. It is possible that some of the worse areas in Reading might be subject to looting, but I can't say for certain.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Hey guys, not really been on the forums in recent days due to the distraction the London riots have caused.
Very hard to stay focused on work, football and life in general with these thugs around.
Stay safe.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
I was thinking of how people say that we lack squad depth. Well that ain't particularly true. They say we lack quality, that also is not true.
Let's assume this is our first team:
----------------------------------------Szczesny---------------------------------------------
Sagna-------------------Koscielny-----------------Verminator--------------------Gibbs
--------------------------------------Song----------------------------------------------------
---------------------Fabregas------------------------Wilshere----------------------------
Nasri-------------------------Robin Van Persie---------------------------------Arshavin
Then our backup team would be:
-----------------------------------------Fabianski-------------------------------------------
Jenkinson---------------Squillaci-------------------Djorou-----------------------Traore
--------------------------------------Frimpong-----------------------------------------------
----------------------Rosicky----------------------Ramsey---------------------------------
Walcott----------------------------Gervinho--------------------------------------Myaichi
That is not a bad team at all. Djorouis just in a bad form; things will pick up soon. Traore and Squillaci are unfrotunately the weak links in our defence. Jenkinson and Fabianski are both quality.
Frimpong hasn't played a competitive match in the EPL (as far as i know) but we all know what he is capable of. Rosicky on his day is fantastic and we've already seen what he can do in pre season. Rambo is Rambo. He will do great for us.
The Forehead can play in the middle that i know. Do i need to say anything about Walcott? Myaichi hasn't played in PL but we have seen his quality, he can maybe do something for us.
P.s Here's a fun fact. We were called 'blunt in attack' last season yet scored just 1 goal less than the invincibles did.
EDIT: Stay safe Sam. Just don't go out till the riots are through. Although i dunno how bad it really is at your place coz i don't live in England.

Be safe guys, my family and friends in London have been updating me on the events and it doesn't sound pretty at all.
Re: Arsenal Lobby
we scored 1 less goal... but look at their defense lool
I don't see how you can hate on Traore and call Jenkinson quality, I don't see how one did better then the other, in pre-season ?

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Another brilliant video by Renoog.
I personally admit that I underrate Rosicky. He's got the creativity, flair, and just footballing brain to succeed in our system.
The only thing that's stopping him is his consistency. He can put in a world class against a Premier League side, but totally be invisible against a weak side like Huddersfield.
This is the season for him to shine in. He's gotten a good rest, and has had time to get some intense physical training with the team under his belt which means we might see him alot more this season.

Rosicky technically is still the orchestra leader.
Now physically, he's my grandmother. That's the only thing holding him back. That season long injury he had didn't help, either.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
To be honest, he should have had way more assists. I mean, he created so many one-v-one chances that were gone to waste....mainly by Arshavin, surprisingly.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arshavin will play a super-sub role this season like he did for the majority of last year, he doesn't have the fitness to play 70+minutes he can still add a lot like Giggs did for United off the bench.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
arshavin plays on left wing and rosiscky is more towards the central mid portion.
gervinho i think will be fighting with arshavin. walcott and chamber will fight for the right wing. so all is good. miyachi i suppose will be fighting all four of them.

i think the team looks better than last year.. But if Nasri or Fabregas goes we must replace them immediately with an experienced one..The Verminator wrote:I was thinking of how people say that we lack squad depth. Well that ain't particularly true. They say we lack quality, that also is not true.

Read that Nasri is almost sold and we are looking for replacements.. Is this true ?
Suddenly we have an abundance of options in the wing with Miyachi, Gervinho and Chamberlain...

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Manchester-United-Arsenal-Liverpool-news-Gary-Neville-interview-Why-Arsenal-fans-must-lay-off-Ars%C3%A8ne-Wenger-plus-views-on-Liverpool-Alex-Ferguson-article783562.html
“When we [Manchester United] played against Arsenal, we accepted that we were playing against a team that, for 20 years, have been brilliant at passing a football and interchanging.
“He is definitely second to Alex Ferguson in terms of his achievements. I think [former Chelsea boss] Jose Mourinho is the third of those stand-out managers who have made teams into champions and continually been successful at their clubs.
“Arsenal are a huge football club with massive expectations and you don’t stay there like Arsene has without being an outstanding manager. He is one of the very best.
"Arsene Wenger is still doing an excellent job. He is still in the job because of the level of respect there for him, and the way he gets the best out of young players."
Of late, Wenger’s standing among Arsenal fans has dipped, with the hard-core upset at his unwillingness to bow to their calls for battle-hardened signings.
Some supporters have even called for Wenger to go, while others believe the pressure is on the former Monaco chief’s transfer dealings now that the Gunners’ traditional top four place is at risk.
The stakes have been further raised by the impending departures of Samir Nasri to Manchester City and Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.
But Neville, the latest addition to Sky Sports’ stable of pundits, believes Arsenal fans need to hold their nerve and back their manager.
He went on: “Fans at every club are impatient. Arsenal need trophies - that will always be the way - but it would be the wrong thing to even think about losing Arsene Wenger.
“I’m not one of those people who would jump on the bandwagon. I’ve seen Arsene Wenger go head-to-head with Manchester United over 15 years.
“Never underestimate or disrespect what that man can achieve with players and his scouting network.
“I genuinely believe that before he loses Fabregas and Nasri he will have others players lined up to come in, like he has done for the last 10 or 15 years.
“Arsenal have been our [United's] major rivals for the past 15 years.
"They are the ones that have gone through seasons unbeaten.
“They are the ones that produced the best team I played against - in 1998, with Bergkamp, Anelka, Petit, Vieira, Overmars, Parlour and that famous back five. That was as good a team as I’ve played against in England.
"I think people are too quick to jump on the bandwagon and think he [Wenger] should come under pressure.
“He’s been immensely successful for a long period. I think anyone managing Arsenal in the last five or six years would not have achieved what Arsene Wenger has achieved.
“He has been getting into the Champions League places every year and still playing quality football - entertaining the fans.
“They have invested hugely in their stadium and not been able to spend £30m, £40m, £50m or £60m year in and year out on the squad.
“I don’t believe that he [Wenger] should be under pressure.
"If you look at Arsenal, they are not a knee-jerk-reaction club. They believe in the long-term."

Just thought it would be interesting to post, I have a bit more respect for Neville now. He talks about other clubs if you want to read the rest of the article.
