Unbeaten run in LaLiga, not all competitions. We lost to Lille this season and a few losses in CL/Copa last season

On one hand it's better for us because there's extra motivation to dunk on this annoying bozo.BarcaLearning wrote:God I understand the hate for Vini now, I mean look at him, he acts likes hes entitled by the ref all the time to give him special treatment when he goes n fouls like that gets booked n complains non stop... n btw, he is ugly Im sorry...?

Re: La Liga 2024/25
"Es una derrota fácil de digerir". - Jose Mourinho, circa 2010.
I would like to think that a silver lining could be extracted from this and that the club could realize that it is time to move on from the anti-intellectual mindsets that it has had for so long when it comes to our brand of football and the type of manager/coach profile we should have. That goes hand in hand. I wouldn't count on it with Perez.
If we were better coached and had an inclination and respect within the club towards intensity and putting the process over the players we would be better off for it. You need the latter to come first for the former to really be possible.
You wouldn't have a manager like Ancelotti cucking himself out as a "galactico whisperer", defending his players from criticism for not being intense or proactive enough, indulging them and actually disgustingly rationalizing a laissez faire approach that can't work anyways without good enough, functional coaching and good enough, functional process + intensity, which is what we had last season.
We have monster players who could pull off whatever the likes of Guardiola, Flick, or Alonso would like to but Ancelotti doesn't have the personality or the connaissance to pull it off, and it doesn't come naturally to the club to build that.
To me, this season is a microcosm for what's so bad with what I call the anti-intellectual approach. Even when I've praised Carlo in the past a lot of what I'm praising is a functional process, but I have always realized that his brand of functional processing is in large part a compromise with suspicious implications. The implications become more than that when player intensity, fitness, and motivation are lost. The lack of process and nitty gritty tactical ideas becomes more apparent. The indulgence becomes more apparent.
We have what it takes to play a kick ass, intense, proactive 4231/4141 but we can't because we don't have a coach who can get his players in form, make them run, and instruct them better. Hence the limp and lame 442/433/3421 experiments with Bellingham playing on the right, with Valverde not being activated fully, and with Mbappe and Vinicius being less than optimal defensively.
It's easy to digest this defeat because we haven't been the best league team so far this season. Facil de digerir.
Less easy to stomach is the cowardly and lame anti-intellectual reasons behind our consistent underperformance.

I didn't want to talk about refs after this beautiful win but just one quick post to respond to this:
No yellow for Toomuchmoney, should be red:
Same ref (Sanchez Martinez) was on VAR in previous clasico and disallowed this "ghost" goal. Magically yesterday we had a better camera angle than last season, go figure.

+ a lot of small things, such as Bellingham makes a tactical foul to stop a counter = no yellow.

Yep we defended it last night.
The longest unbeaten runs in LaLiga history:
• 43 games - Barcelona (2017-2018)
• 42 games - Real Madrid (2023-2024)

Couldn’t catch the game, have to watch the highlights, but tbh I expected this. Anyone who’s been watching Barcelona and Real play this season knows Barca is by far the better team. We have a lot of holes and imbalance in the team that needs to get fixed.

Re: La Liga 2024/25
I wouldn't say that they're a far better team, but I did predict a narrow win for Barcelona in a Reddit thread a couple of days ago. They are in better form right now. I'm mostly disappointed about the manner in which we lost. It's not like it couldn't have been more even if we had been more effective with all of the chances that we created.

Last time barca beat us 4-0 at home we won UCL. Form matters and I hope we're able to find it by at least after the winter break

I feel Atleti has had a good off season and they IMO will be 2nd IF Simone gives his offensive players the freedom and opportunities to succeed.
And lastly I’m hoping Nico and company can give them a run for the money.

Atleti looks well in crisis, getting beat in both CL and LaLiga.

They are indeed, so let's stop talking about Madrid and Vinicius getting a " lucky" break as a result of this unfortunate disaster. It's just football and this meaningless La Liga fixture shouldn't even be a topic of discussion at the moment.
