Italy looking absolutely awful. They look good in the first game, but too much changing in the lineups now. It's not like the players they're putting in are any better than the players from the first game. Like what is El Sharawy doing in a Euro in 2024 ffs.

Some managers just aren’t meant to manage national teams as Spalletti is the one who thrives under all the time given to him
to relay his precise instructions whereas the best international managers find a way to streamline it and communicate it better. One of the worst italian teams in a while

Looking back at it, their Euro 2020 triumph was more like an outsider going all the way like Greece 2004 or Denmark 1992 than it was a great nation returning to form.

I predicted Italy to be the only big team to bottle it in R16. So it's not a surprising result at all. I have seen some tv pundits predicting swiss to go through. Beyond the first game , I doubt they played any good football at all. Like Croatia they deserved to leave early. So I see no upsets thus far.

I think Italy left some of it's best talent excluded here. Someone metioned Verratti who defo shouldve been picked. People dont like him but Berardi shouldve also been picked here. Italy certainly needed more creativity while in possession of the ball. Why play Scamacca if youre not gonna be able to feed him anything?
