Son with arguably the least impressive goal of the bunch. Just ran in a straight line and defenders let him run.

A lot of great players have done that. Messi did it against us in El Clasico. I’ve seen Maradona do it. Kaka did it. Hell, I’ve seen completely unknown players do it, on occasion. Sometimes, players get brain farts, and the sight of seeing their team mates lose their cool and fall on their asses due to self-induced stress, starts a chain reaction of brain farts.
It’s been occuring on rare occasions for as long as I can remember. Does it take away from the ability required to pull it off? I think so, but it’s still fun to watch, and a lot of people don’t seem to care that the opposition looks like a bunch of amateur wrestlers in the process.

Tbh it looks less impressive because the feints cause players to look like dildos, but they are effective and objectively impressive in their own right.
That said son could play 1000 matches and never score a goal like Suárez'.

Uhh, I watched a whole bunch of clean ass volleys from other players that made Suarez not being picked seem pretty fair.

I don’t necessarily mind Suárez not getting it, but I agree Son’s definitely did not deserve it. It’s marginally more impressive than Pato’s goal against Barca in 2012 — great goal, but certainly not the best of the season.

I can see Son's not being picked and it wouldn't bother me mhch, but I don't think it's wrong it has
He ran 3/4 the length of the pitch lmao. I did think the defending wasn't great, but he played it well and most players couldn't carry the ball 15 meters without losing it.

Re: FIFA Puskas Award 2020
Indeed this is a choice that is very arguable. Personally I like Son's goal more. Yes the defending was comical but despite the space afforded to him it must be said Son is not exactly fast yet used his bursts of acceleration so brilliantly and timed his feints and touches to perfection.
And running from that length is remarkable as he was gassed by the beginning of his celebration.
Suarez's goal was more of a team display of aestheticism but his flick one it for me solely because he was not at the angle to back heel it in yet literally curled it in past a well kept position of the goalkeeper;
And we know such magical moments FIFA will favour.
Nothing for me beats Zlatan's goal v England. Best goal I have ever seen by a mile.

I could say the same about basically every great goal ever scored, including Son's and every other goal nominated. So I don't think it's a very useful criteria
