That should do it for Myesyats and his terrible Mbappé takes.

Score aside, MATS had a great match and avoided a Bayern Munich-level embarassment

Maybe he's speaking out of fear. Fear of Madrid buying him and watching them dominate while Barca reduce themselves to competing with the Sevilla's and the Malaga's.

Were you expecting any different though? This team was practically last year's team minus your second best player in Suárez.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Score aside, MATS had a great match and avoided a Bayern Munich-level embarassment
Ter Stegen was good but also I feel PSG gave Barcelona too much respect. Had they pushed the entire team forward like Bayern did, they would have scored more without conceding.

No I said a few pages back I was expecting a stomping and that's what we got. Disappointed and a bit sad but not surprised.danyjr wrote:Were you expecting any different though? I don't know what mystats has said about Mbappe, but like with a lot of things evaluated by GL, he's always one poor match away from being ridiculed, and one match away from being a GOAT. Some things never change on here.

Still hoping that we are saving all our money from cheap CBs just for Mbappe
He needs to take it slow in CL otherwise we might have to overpay because of Madrid.

Myesyats wrote:Koeman has only one tactic, Messi loses the ball 40 times a game and doesn't seem bothered, we have no width, our main goalscorers are retarded, nonexistent midfield which is like swiss cheese. I probably won't even watch this shit. Fully expect Ronald to be sacked by then though.
Ain't that right, though ronald is hanging on since it's not entirely his fault.

i understand someone like mj kobe or lebron yelling at teammates. but these days when guys like pique or mr triple single draymond green, because they were the passengers on the bus driven by superstars, start thinking they're cooler than the other side of the pillow...it baffles me. dude was terrible all game, focus on ure defense or lack thereof and quit crying about possession.

Re: UCL Ro16 2020/21 | Barcelona Vs PSG
Well this game was a real test for us vs a proper team which we havent really faced in a long time apart from Bilbao. PSG for once probably played smart and right (I guess it already shows Poch > Tuchel? Lets see how this develops as their career progresses). But our problems all exposed so clearly in this game. Leaky defense and physically out competed, which has been the case for a few years.
Players wise highlighted in this game by Pique back from injury but at 35 as mentioned above? Wow didnt realize that , old Busquets, and Pedri whos like 18, vs that PSG midfield, together with a beasting Mbappe (who showed just how good he is finally in a big CL game? Still remember a thread a long time ago, someone actually considered Dembele to be better than him as a player lol). Dest has been in and out, and hes probably better attacking than defending, but he definitely struggled vs the next best player in the world once Messi retires , so wont be too harsh on him.
As many said above, Koeman didnt and probably couldnt do much, and it was a bit lucky it was only 4-1. PSG werent even at their best despite playing a gg. Icardi was so weird when he was 1v1 basically and chose to back heel flick to Kean out wide? Although the unchallenged Kean goal from a freekick we really should have prevented which I expect in the second leg.
Anyway, an inevitable result, and hopefully in the second leg we dont concede another 4 or more, since 8 goal conceded over two legs is becoming a habit for us in the CL loool...
And I doubt Messi will stick around for yet another season of being victim of inevitable CL rape next year lol, and Mbappe will goto Real, and Barca will continue to compete for top 4 only and the occasional Cope Del Rey many years to come

Blessing in disguise I would say for Barca. Now we can concentrate on losing the league.

Re: UCL Ro16 2020/21 | Barcelona Vs PSG
Its actually insane how far Messi is from the player we grew up watching. Cant sympathise given he is a total bitch as it is.
Clear that de Jong is a good midfielder but constantly shown up not to perform in more tight situations against better gameplans, despite his commendable consistency.
Koeman as stated on day one, is a shit manager who has no merit nor any place coaching such a club.
Congratulations to PSG. Most interesting thing was Poch and the first one to use Verratti in the role that made him famous and more advanced as a #10. Same destruction of him is similar to how Panic was placed deep thus disappearing slowly. He was sensation last night and has been under Poch.

Good a word as any
I hate to come to his defense though, but age is catching up on him. Can't expect him to play like in 2012 anymore.
Another example is Ronaldo. Juventus is currently one goal down to Porto. Prime Ronaldo would've feasted on them and signed a hattrick to his name by halftime.

Age? He is thirty three. Parts of his game did rely on his bursts of place but his decline has been stark and rather sudden.
What has Ronaldo lost beyond his pace? For all he has lost he has gained a lot in many areas. Messi simply has not evolved.
He still can be considered the worlds best but strike that fear into the hearts of opposition, that does not happen anymore.
Not to mention he has been dire in the Champions League key moments as of recent.

Re: UCL Ro16 2020/21 | Barcelona Vs PSG
True, Ronaldo is still putting in the numbers (which is quite impressive given his age), but watching him play, it's patently clear he's no longer the same player.
Pace was Ronaldo's deadliest weapon. Without it, not only did he lose the ability to beat his man, he also lost his explosiveness which would help him score goals out of the blue on half chances.
I also noticed that his shots aren't as powerful as they used to be, and also he doesn't shoot from the outside the box as frequently as he did at Madrid.
I'm sure you already know this, but the guy had rockets for shots at Madrid. Defenders would throw themselves in front of him by the four just to stop him from firing a tomahawk missile. He was a goddamn predator always going for the hunt.
But it's normal. He stayed at the highest level for so many years, I've lost count. And the fact that he's still putting in amazing numbers even now is testimony to how ridiculously talented and efficient he is.

Re: UCL Ro16 2020/21 | Barcelona Vs PSG
CR simply has improved in the sense his tactical decisions on the ball are better, his left foot is basically just as good as his right and that his creativity has improved.
His shot power is the same. Check his (left-footed) rocket against Lyon last season.
We know he suffers from ankle injuries so like his free kicks he has had to tone down the slap on the ball, thats mostly it.
Not as exciting to watch as before but an overall better package.

Yup that was Poch's first tactical alteration that caught my eye too. Not sure if anyone else felt that way, but Verratti's role yesterday kind of reminded me of Xavi's for Spain. On paper, he might have been the #10, but instead of being parked between the lines he was dropping deep to create numerical superiorities all over the pitch. That gave it more of a 4-2-1-3 look rather than a 4-2-3-1. It gave PSG so much control across the pitch. I wonder if Poch will persist with that when Neymar comes back and play him on the wings/F9, or if he'll let Neymar play as more of a traditional 10 instead and move Verratti deeper.

All kidding aside, I think Barça might surprise us all tonight, especially if you guys score an early goal.
If you, however, concede early or go to HT without scoring, you're pretty much done.
