Where will Messi go?
Re: Lionel Messi Transfer Speculation
Yea, he was ok with Rakitic too. So it looks like it will be just Alba and Pique left as friends, perhaps Busquets too. But anyway, as I said somewhere today, its time for other players to step up and increase their influence in the team now, it has been too dependent or focused on Messi b4, and it should
only naturally happen now, that includes the likes of Griezmann, De Jong, hopefully Dembele and Wxxxxxxxx. The WC players matters the most.

Re: Lionel Messi Transfer Speculation
Barça confirm they have not received any communication, much less an offer, from Manchester City for Lionel Messi. @Elwood_White
If this is true, I can't even imagine how many BS City contract rumors I've read this past month. What a waste of everyone's time. I gotta stop following silly season rumors ffs.

Why doesn't Messi go to Napoli?
With the players they have, I think Messi is enough to propel them to a legendary title, and De Laurentiis is crazy enough to make it work.

It would make it seem like he's chasing diego's shadow. But it wouldn't surprise me if De Laurentiis makes a bid
That said, Messi's entire reason for leaving is that he doesn't think that Barca are good enough for the CL any more, and is Napoli much of a step up right now?

Barca at the moment are not good enough for either the league or the CL.
Napoli's squad is actually quite good, and someone like Messi could push them up to the required level.
That being said, it is too much of a homage to Maradona. Would love for Messi to come to Serie A though, as long as it is not with Inter or Juve.

Barcelona say they are ready to take legal action after the publication of the details of Lionel Messi's €555 million (£491m/$674m) contract.
Spanish newspaper El Mundo leaked documents revealing the terms of Messi's current deal at Camp Nou, which is due to expire at the end of June.
Their report states that the four-year agreement, which the Argentine signed in 2017, includes fixed incomes and bonus payments which amount to €138m (£112m/$167m) in annual earnings.

Is that four or five year contract? Either way Barcelona got amazing value from the best ever, but should've let him go for this season because they probably can't afford paying even that.

His offsprings are indeed lucky.
Next 7 generations are probably all set for life at this point. He should just invest money in properties and stocks and what not. Can start 200 different brands of clothes, cosmetics etc. Donate 5m each to all the active members of GL.

Re: Lionel Messi Transfer Speculation
i'm a little confused about this, players' contracts in all sports don't they get published all the time? unless i'm missing something , even before the arrival of the internet ; magazines had those lists of top earners in x sports that they would published. and even with the internet, it seems this is something bleacher, espn, hell even forbes, do everyday
for instance wasn't there a bit of an uproar or something to that effect because the full details of neymar's original barca contract weren't revealed? i'm out of the loop here, i thought athletes' contract was all public knowledge, why is legal action being considered?

Re: Lionel Messi Transfer Speculation
Apparently there were only 4 copies of the contract: Messi's, Messi's lawyer's, La Liga's and Barca's. Messi believes that Barca leaked their copy to scapegoat him due to the latest news about Barca's poor financials.

You say that like he wasn't literally forced to stay at the club last summer
Barca has brought Barca to financial ruin, simple as that. No sense blaming players who were willing to save the club 100-150 mil from that 500 and were literally compelled not to.

I blame the board equally. We should have had a president like Perez who would slapped Messi around all the streets of Barcelona, put him in his place and then shipped him off. That's what a smart president like Perez did with CR7. And that's what Perez is doing with Ramos.
Mind you, Perez put a CR7 in his place, the unquestioned best player of his generation; the guy who helped Madrid win 4 CL's. Likewise Ramos.
However, the player himself is not blameless. He is a little dictator. And lol at making it seem as if he wanted to leave to save the club. He wanted to leave for his own selfish reasons. Pure and simple. Lets not ascribe noble intentions where there were none whatsoever.

Re: Lionel Messi Transfer Speculation
lol at blaming a players' contract for a clubs' financial woes
they negotiated a deal and both parties agreed to it. the guy is not a financial advisor nor an accountant ; so he isnt culpable for the way the club and those in the financial hot seat spend their money.
not to mention, i could have sworn i have been hearing this "barcelona is in financial ruin" rhetoric since like 2012, i remember one time people running some story about the club and color printers. yet every day goes by and their top in earnings, and able to splash cash . not to mention, those numbers include various add ons and incentives which i'm sure the club benefits from as well. its not liek they're paying 500 mill in salary
and the kid has earned his money too, he is entertaining loads of people and of the billions of people in the world not many can do what he does. that being said, i still dont get any reason for lawsuits.....athletes earnings' have always been open to the public (unless there's something to hide) this just seems like a way for lawyers to get some cash

Re: Lionel Messi Transfer Speculation
Barca should have never agreed for a raise and bonuses in 2017. He was clearly only going to get worse past 30 like any player does and theres no logic to anything the ex barca board did, complete madness and sabotage essentially. No sane man agrees to such a contract for a 30year old player. Bartomeu was living like there was no tomorrow, with this amount of debt we were constantly on the brink of financial ruin if at any point a crisis came and Covid is a harsh reality check.

The delicate financial situation of @FCBarcelona (similar in other big clubs) is not Messi's fault but rather the devastating effects of COVID. Without a pandemic, the revenue generated by the best player in history offset that cost. Some media are not treating this issue fairly. pic.twitter.com/3qVgPcnyFL
