Finally we really gave them a drubbing, they've given us so much trouble over recent years, this feels good especially since its vs them They simply tired out somewhere in the second half and we just kept strong. They also just didnt threaten us at all in this game, our defense including a really not ready Pique hardly ever looked troubled. De Jong had a top game along with Messi and Alba. What a goal by Messi, a little bit of reminder of the classic goal he scored all those years ago vs Getafe I think it was Only the god himself can do things like these still. Not to mention some unbelievable passes he made too during this game.

Hopefully we can maintain this level can catch out Real for the league somehow, that was be incredible.

Btw Griezmann played well also, Dembele didnt feature, he must be injured?

there are still about 7 games left and a 3 point gap...the result would have been a death sentence say two or three years ago, against a rival like barca that barely dropped points. but atleti could go on and draw or even lose next week. no way they're winning all their remaining games. made sense to rest some players

for the first goal conceded, I actually was mad at seeing Roberto's defending again, watch how he flings himself all over without ever touching the ball or actually defending, its very depressing to see, its 2021 ffs, why are we still starting him at RB, and ahead of Dest? Mingueza was off the pitch with De Jong covering, and it was comically and maddening watching freakin Roberto defending as usual. He doesnt offer much going forward, so I just dont see why he still starts?

Messi on good form, he still scoring goals only a few players in the world can do, and happy for Griezmann whos playing well. We were poor for the last half hour or so though, when we lost control quite a bit, in the end the score line flattering, but it wasnt anything special apart from Messi.

Atletico win again, so its going down to the finish it seems.

Dest was so abysmal against Madrid I wouldn't start him again either. The kid has a few tricks up his sleeve but mentally not prepared for big games at all.

Dest was not good against Madrid, but he was performed consistently well the bigger the game. He was not alone in the Madrid game to struggle, in fact, nobody was good.

My problem is Roberto is not a fullback. He doesnt do well in big spaces, doesnt overlap nor is he able to keep with the explosive forward/wingers he has to face. We have tried this before, its not going to get better as Roberto gets older. Its not even about Roberto v Dest at this point, its simply that Roberto has never been and never will be a capable fullback.

I dont even blame him for the goal, he and De Jong were 3v2 on the side with Mingueza off the pitch.

Yea it was 3v2 and not all his fault, I guess im just frustrated to see it yet again Cant expect much and I dont this season, but at least continuing phasing out those who dont belong, which Koeman has done with the likes of Alena gone to Getafe for example.
