When you win the scudetto 19/20 it won't be because of VAR, but because of Marotta and Conte

I've watched match at a pub and I've said to my friend that it's easier to meet an Englishman favorable to Republic than to VAR
Laughing
Well, I'm not surprised about this ostracism and I predict VAR will never be loved from PL fans.
In Italy it's been welcomed from very beginning, a really cool thing, a gift fell from the heaven , finally Justice and still the party anti-VAR represents absolutely minority.
In England it's been ostracized soon, and intolerance resists and fortifies.
Different cultures, there is a different acceptation of the mistakes by refs at the basis.

@rincon @CBarca pls explain

You dont seem to understand, VAR is not an AI system. Its ref who are making those calls. It reduces mistakes as refs have second chances to have a look and check.

There is no good reason to be against reducing refs mistakes by using an extra tool like this one. Same with goal line technology.

VAR probably didn't overturn it because if you watch the replay there is pretty clear contact.

Don't get me wrong, when I say it in real time I said "dive" out loud. Looked it. Saw a replay though and had to admit I was wrong. It's a bit of a grey area, sure. Pogba had his mind on going down and I think his momentum was starting to take him there even before the contact, but his left leg made clear contact with the defender, who got none of the ball. That's a pen.

I also think it was the correct call, but that's besides the point. Even if you disagree with it  you are disagreeing with 4 refs, you are not disagreeing with a camera and a computer. It's 4 refs making the call.

Yep. Or if there does happen to be a call you disagree with, and it's legitimate....if anything, blame the center ref. He's the one with the power, not the VAR refs.

Not sure how I've gone about being the one to defend VAR after being one of the staunchest critics of it on here when it was first coming about. I still have issues with it, but I think my issues with it are pretty different to what everyone else seems to think. Overall I think it's a good thing, anyway.

It was a good performance overall. We were below par in the 2nd half, but still will take it against Wolves at Molineux, really. Unlucky to not take full 3 points. Pogbah Rolling Eyes He was good though other than that miss. So yea relatively happy. Its all about progress right now for this team. Not necessarily results. It does look like ole has a plan in place. Daniel James grew into the game and Wan Bissaka is just a brilliant footballer. So happy we got him. Hope he develops his attacking game too from now. Less said about Lingard better. Hope Ole ditches his effort of turning this third rate idiot into a footballer. Not even good enough for a relegation battling team. Put Angel Gomes in that position and we will look a lot better.

I find it amusing that Pogba who despite his penalty run up just to be trademarked into FIFA, remains to have a chance to take penalties between him and Rashford.

He has missed 4 in the last 11 months. That is atrocious. He never was good even in the first place! Why do we overrate a player in aspects he does not possess consistently. Of course he stands out in a team of donkeys therefore looks better.

How Lindard continues to play is another thing that has me in fits. Has Solskjær proven to lack balls or does the player genuinely add something to the team beyond a cringe-worthy locker room experience.

Pogba has been always crap. Never really remember him scoring one of those impossible to save top corner piledrivers. All his goals from penalties have come from the GK going from the wrong way where as Rashford’s technique has always been good.

The problem is we don’t have a real authority, a leader figure within the club neither on the pitch nor among coaching staff to impose these things. There’s no one who can say to Pogba to give the frisking ball to Rashford and let him score. Solksjaer I dunno, he is ruthless somewhat but not enough, especially when it comes to the star players like Pogba and DDG. May be Maguire will develop into that role in the future, but until that we will continue to be a spoilt sulking bunch of boys who can do whatever they please on the football ground. Even if they decide to simply not care anymore one fine day like they did last season end, they will do that and there’s nothing we as a football club and fans can do about it. We are basically at the mercy of Pogba, Rashford and co.  They are capable players who can really produce moments of quality, but if they decide to down the tools, we will go down bad as well. Hate it but nothing to do really.

Re: Lingard, I think the reasoning behind Ole keeping him in the team is because of his so called work rate and off the ball movement. Fair enough he offers those qualities somewhat but fk me are we talking about a Huddersfield or a Burnely here? He is playing as a no.10 of a top 4 challenging team ffs. The moron never scores nor assists, well at least except in pointless mickey mouse cup games sometimes.

I'm in favour of VAR in general and used to it as well as it isn't new in the Eredivisie but IMO the current iteration in the PL isn't good. In fact I'd say it's pretty bad. Too many breaks and they take far too long.

Can't we use an AI to solve the whole offside problematic anyway? Also just maaaybe put more cameras in different locations instead of trying to calculate if someones head is offside ffs

Brilliantly summed up.

DDG aside and Pogba's inert talent it is hard to find anyone in United who genuinely can be an X-factor as I would spend more time on Martial than Rashford who's raw talent is just well above what is a limited player in the latter, and has shown notable signs of improvement under Solskjær.

The manager is a more tactical mind than he comes across and I can see why Lingard is deemed useful from him as some of the most astute tactical minds always favour one Lingard in their team anyhow.

Cannot help the feeling United are screaming for Roy Keane player and more so figure in their locker-room which makes me appreciate more what is my favourite all time United player, controversial as he was overall.

@CBarca and @rincon I get that it is not an AI system making decisions like goal line technology, but when I say VAR I mean the entire concept and rules that go with it, the refs included.

We can solve the VAR issue by using AI. So every offside can be triggered as a read line in the playing side stating the offside flag. This can also take the burden of show offside flag and ease out the linesman.
