Re: meaningless la liga
I feel some of you are expecting a total instant transformation from what has been one of the worst seasons ever, both from a team perspective and in several cases individual performances.
These remaining games are not how well or not the team plays, it's all about transformation of attitude, effort and working hard to impress Zidane that they do deserve another opportunity next year.
You can see that effort in Benzema, Isco and several of the kids. You can also see people like Bale, Marcelo showing that they probably need to be replaced.
I think Zidane giving everyone a chance to impress is impressive. Note - playing his own son, sure is part of it as Luca was literally written off by previous coaches, yet he has played fairly well (& often) at Castilla this season and as noted above, Zidane really didn't have much of a choice for this game against last placed team.
My take aways from this game are:
1. Zidane will have more confidence in his bench strength next season as players that supposedly were in his dog house previously are completely different (& better) than they were a year ago. I'm expecting little changes with regards to bench strength. It is worth noting that there will likely be a surplus up front as we can anticipate quite a shakeup to starting 3 or 4.
2. Bale is finished on this team and possibly Marcelo as well.
3. I saw more energy and effort from Benz than I have seen in past three years.
4. Nacho needs to get his game back. He no doubt will remain as 4th CB and an overall emergence defense relief, but if his poor form is a direct result of little playing time, then it will only get worst next year. I feel both he and Lucas will be squad players next season and their playing time will be substantially reduced.
5. I feel sorry for Isco. He is IMO putting in the effort, but it sure looks like the only way he stays next season is as a backup. Of course it all depends on who is coming in plus who of current starters leave, but IMO it doesn't look good for him.

That would've been nice. Where do you get that optimism from? I expected a draw or a narrow win. I don't like to predict largely one-sided scores, and I don't think we're very likely to score multiple goals in a match with how our team is playing, these days.

Re: meaningless la liga
They're bottom of the table, so a comfortable win was expected. We still offer little goalscoring threat, though. Benzema has looked better than usual this season, but he still misses more chances than he scores. Our goalscoring potency doesn't scare anyone.

Wrong. Lol It scares me, and it will scare me even more if we allow these meaningless games convince us that we are fine. Though fans on here who follow transfer news have assured me things will be alright.....I hope

God, I hate Valencia. Their man goes down and they continue playing when they have the ball, then when we get the ball back and counter they expect us to kick the ball out. F*ck off, lol.

Re: meaningless la liga
I don't even know why ZZ persists with the likes of Asensio and Marcelo
All we are doing is pass from one side to the other. It'd help if Odri knew hiw to make just one decent cross or Lucas became more useful
Valencia got their goal, now they are just picking us off on the counter
Isco needs to come on ffs

Well, Valencia deservedly lead at the break which is not surprising at all. They are always up for this match...

Nothing to see. zzzzzz game. we suck.
Vasquez is a waste of space. So is Asensio. Marcelo continues to be utter shit this season.

Kroos' covering for that goal was world class. He literally left his marker to go into a space occupied by only grass. Bless him...

Re: meaningless la liga
So either we have the talent-less Lucas who can't trap a ball or the useless Bale who also has issues trapping a ball. Sigh, Hala, just tell your boy to go on the bench himself please.

Well done Valencia, deserved win and more evidence that Zidane is definitely gonna (or needs to) blow up this team.

Which one you prefer: error prone Conetois or allergic to crosses Navas?

As usual Benz the only one who works hard. Nobody else, Modric and Kroos can pack their bags. Marcelo i hope has already put his house up for sale

Best we just ask Iker to come back if you insist on such players.

Re: meaningless la liga
Some of you guys made it sound as if Zidane coming back would miraculously turn things around for us. I suppose we did have a shitty, unmotivated team, after all. Which is basically what Zidane himself alluded to in his last press conference. We should have fired a few more coaches, just to make sure that everyone knows we mean business

Re: meaningless la liga
At least having ZZ will ensure tranquility in the dressingroom. As opposed to the inferno it was under Solari.
I am pretty sure ZZ can see how terrible the likes of Marcelo, Kroos and Bale are. The good thing is, he has hinted that we'll see some changes in the summer. Out with the over the hill unmotivated players in with the fresh hungry players
Had we had Vini today i dare say we could've won today. Valencia were terrible. We just wasted 60mins playing Marco "i can only pass back" Asensio. We needed someone to challenge their FBs, neither Asensio nor Lucas did that
Rodrigo was excellent on the right btw just saying.....

Re: meaningless la liga
We're not going to get past Atleti and Barca... we're not going to fall to 4th. Except for a couple of exceptions, a lot of our players look like they're already on vacation.
The crazy part is that some of them SHOULD be playing their ass off since their job at Madrid depends on it.... yet they look disinterested.
That said, I can't blame the likes of Vasquez and Asensio. Vasquez should be an adelante player so it's not his fault Madrid are playing him and, paying him well. Asensio has cojones the size of chick peas... dem are the breaks. Unless he upgrades those, he can't do better.

To play devils advocate, it's hard to work your ass off when u already wet the bed the entire season and now you're playing for nothing. Also, it's no secret that many know new talent wud be arriving , so for them it just is what it is.

Hell, the only thing that makes me even catch these games is the fact that folks on here watch them, so at least I have a little something to contribute to our discussions. Other than that why the hell would I watch this lot? At least when we had terrible seasons there were still one or two players u wanted to see play. Who the hell is even watchable lol?

Re: meaningless la liga
Like sports said, some of these guys should really be fighting for their position as if it were a try-out. That's what they "should" be playing for.
If today's performance was a try-out I'd say almost everyone failed. The midfield was woeful especially Kroos, Vazquez is just not the level and should never start, Varane and Ramos are out of sync, the subs didn't change anything etc.. It must be difficult for ZZ to pick through the pile of sh*t to find the one salvageable player from these limited performances.
On the brightside I thought Benz had another decent game, and Marcelo was lively- not as sharp as he needs to be but at least the intent was there. Odri was equally not bad. Everyone else was either "meh" or awful.
