Re: meaningless la liga
I'm really impressed with how press resistant celta Vigo is with those scrub players.
Re: meaningless la liga
So and so performance. If we're going to cross we are definitely going to need anither striker whose good on headers. Bale has been very good, so has Marcelo. Going to need to see more from the midfield, alittle too predictable right now. Odris final ball is so bad, he has always acres of space on his side yert he can never find a teammate with a cross

Feel good win, I like how Bale upped his game after we are KO from every competition. Besides that, good match from him. Also from the Lost Boys Marcelo and Asensio. Isco scored but he wasn't exactly lighting up the match but all the men that got ostracized from Solari did well today.

Great disciplined performance
Marcelo and Isco responding to the faith ZZ has shown in them.
Everyone with a smile on their faces for the first time all season.
It helps to have such a great keeper behind you that you can trust

Good from Fede, despite the fact that he gets bit appearances, he always shows the sparks that are indicative of significant talent. When Zidane applauded one of Fede's long balls, it was as if he was saying "everything is going to be alright, Fede, i believe in you." He is the link between Benching Kroos and Casemiro. Mark my words.
Twas a feel good match for everyone, need to work on making our pressing a bit more intense and organized as needed.

Yup that the direction football is going. The technical level in most players is quite high nowadays to the point where to make the difference you also need to be a great athlete. FEDE on paper is the kind of box to box player that we need more of.

Re: meaningless la liga
It's very important to start off with a win. Nevertheless, and I know this is going to sound strange coming from a Madrid fan, but I really hope that Z won't win all of the remaining games or do too well in them.
The reason for this is because I don't him to give Florentino any excuse not to invest in the squad next summer. He has to understand that this team is on their last legs. Something that should be so obvious to anyone with an IQ superior to 80, but with this president, you never know.

I don't think Flo has much of a choice. Pretty certain contractual stipulations were put into place that investments would be made. Zidane ain't no dummy and clearly knows his worth. We'll be seeing changes, not sure if we'll like it though lol.

Re: meaningless la liga
Kante is one that you'll likely see... along with Hazard. Madrid may send Bale (if he agrees) and a couple of kids back as part of the deal. Maybe even Asensio.
And they're going to make a massive run at Mbappe... already started. It's a long shot with this one. I don't think Mbappe wants to leave on a down note. We would have had a better chance if PSG made the semis. The kid isn't one to jump ship like that.
Neymar is using Madrid to get a pay raise at PSG. So there's nothing to see here lol.

Re: meaningless la liga
I’m thinking the opposite. Zidane is obviously evaluating and deciding who should stay.
What I fear is he decides most or all should stay.
If I look at his first moves re bench strength, I suspect he will be ok with bench strength, by that I mean
Courtois, His son, Odriozola, Nacho, Reguilon, plus Miliato ?sp, Llorente, Valverde, Ceballos, Lucas and Vinicius. I do believe Vallejo will be gone, Brahim loaned out and Marianno gone. Rodrygo will be forced to take a year at lower level or loan or be a 25th man for next season.
So with the starters, if he decides most or all can stay, that only leaves room for one or two new, and one of them seems to be Hazard.
I sure hope I’m wrong!

Pay rise for the 2 R16 exits makes sense. Would love to hear that discussion with Nasser, might be like the Bay of Pigs but with words and in an office.

Re: meaningless la liga
I sure hope you are right Sports, i think Kante, Mbappe and Hazard would do it for me.
Here’s an odd question. How would a MF of Casemiro Kante work (i.e. two B2B)? Replacing both Modric and Kroos.

Re: meaningless la liga
We can't play Kante and Casemiro imo it's overkill
We need someone who can keep and pass the ball at a high level. I think Valverde can thrive in such a role as he a great engine and passing range coupled with technique
Kante - Valverde
RW - Isco - Hazard

Re: meaningless la liga
I don't think we'll get either Neymar or Mbappe at all. More a wish and a prayer... but we're going to try. The mostly likely is Mbappe but that's not even realistic (because you have to convince him to come; he doesn't want to leave PSG yet).
As far as Kante and Casemiro... Casemiro's injury record and inconsistencies are a concern. And despite what some people say; he hasn't been all that good the past 2 years. He's had periods of very good play. But we have enough of those part time players such as Ramos, Marcelo, Kroos and Bale. Need guys that show up from game 1 to the last one. This is especially true on defense and midfield.
Other than attacking force... we really lack players that are true professionals. Which ones can we rely on right now on any given day to put in a proper shift? Not very many. A lot of them are hit or miss from game to game.

Re: meaningless la liga
That's why we have a proper man manager as our coach not a guy that'll spend his time fighting with his players
ZZ indicated in his presser that he wants his team to cross alot, so we will need an attack that fits this profile. A box predator, a guy whose good 1v1 on both wings. That should be our MAIN concern. Perhaps get a CM that could compete with Kroos/Modric but we have enough midfielders as is, we just need to trust them

Zdiamond is back
No Asensio, Modric, Kroos, Varane or Courtois
Cant wait to put 4 past Huesca and keep a cleansheet

Re: meaningless la liga
In theory, kante and casemiro can work, but it requires the attacking mid , left winger and right winger to be multipurpose on offense and have the ability to create especially in the final third since the possession aspect in the middle of the park is almost taken out. That's in theory though. In reality, madrid fans will probably not give it a chance and whistle such move at every turn

Love brahim starting. He is a very talented player. Seen him at man city while watching for mahrez. lovely footwork and technique, needs to bulk physically though or play less aggressively
