exactly, they defended with all their hearts before they took the lead. City did play brilliantly but were not prepared to handle any Chelsea attack. All Pep concentrated was about pressing and attack.
And after Chelseas goal they were completely shaken and it felt like they underestimated Chelsea a bit. Where as Chelsea were clearly prepared and well instructed to absorb pressure and defend as long as possible without conceding.
Yes. It was telling how unprepared they were for counters with how easily Chelsea cut through.
This is what makes me anxious as a fan when my team commits too much to possession and only attack, you can be completely exposed in a second. Mancini looks like he might be guilty of this with the NT. I prefer to "manage" different phases of the game differently with more balance, which City totally lacked.
This was new by Sarri and it's funny that this is how finally beats Pep. With Napoli (and Chelsea earlier) it was: playing Madrid or City? fuck it we'll play with the same all out conviction as if we played Bologna... and they would lose.

well the great Pep himself altered the approach when he faced Liverpool a Anfield this season and it worked. So the blind followers of Pep realised that Pep also had to change his own methods when he faced Liverpool
Well that is what I like about Klopp. He is stubborn about player selection and substitutions. But over the years at Liverpool, he has evolved and tweaks the tactics a bit to manage the game. This season he is trying to find the right balance between his heavy metal and careful game management.

Has there ever been a bigger upgrade in one position in a single transfer window than Loris Karius to Alisson?

City playing Everton right now. Richarlison just missed a great chance to put Everton ahead.
Teams:
Ederson; Walker, Otamendi, Laporte, Delph; Fernandinho, B. Silva, Gundogan; Mahrez, Jesus, Sane
Pickford; Keane, Mina, Zouma; Coleman, Gomes, Sigurdsson, Digne; Bernard, Richarlison; Calvert-Lewin

Richarlison has missed two great chances. Now Walcott has missed one...
City haven't been at their best. Feel like they could have dropped points had Everton's finishing been better.

Can't think of a team in the PL I dislike more than Burnley.
They've no players worth talking about and park the bus every game, yet still can't take any points off the big teams. Their lack of ambition is disgusting.
Imaging parking it all game vs Spurs and conceding in the 91st minute ffs.

Strictly speaking about the PL, I would say Arsenal going from Giroud to Lacazette and Auba is easily one of the biggest upgrades in one position we've witnessed over the last decade.

BTW, I'm curious to see if Jose will do everything he can to beat Liverpool or will he roll over just so City won't stay first.

It'll be a 0-0 or a 1-1 unless godforsaken they win lmao. We just can't seem to get one over Mourinho, always gets a result against us.

Exactly. Everytime before the Liverpool-Utd derby these days people act as if Utd stand no chance. This is not supported by evidence. And contrary to what Mourinho wants everyone to believe, this is still a star-studded, ultra-expensive team full of quality.
They always show up for this game in some way or another, and Mourinho's Utd has far less problems showig up for big games than it has for the smaller teams.
Don't think Klopp has managed to beat Mourinho yet in the PL.
I'm not sure he will this time.

if we dont get too desperate and just try to control the game as much as possible, it will be better. Trying too hard can backfire, bz that I dont mean to say be defensive but attack with control as we have done till now in this season.

I am here like a man to take my punishment
just ask you to kindly not aim for the balls or my pretty face when you're pelting me with tomatoes
Hoping we'll somehow play far above what we've shown already this season even if its just for today but I'm expecting a completely cowardly performance and we still lose 2-0

Think it's time we start asking questions of Emery's starting line-ups and how he sends his teams out.
It's baffling how we can be so bad, so consistently in the first halves of games.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
Game 17. Still haven't lead at half-time...
Giving up a midfielder or an attacker so we can play XHAKA and Lichtsteiner in a back three is total nonsense. I'd rather we took a chance on a half-fit Koscielny and Monreal pairing than give up control/attacking threat against Southampton.
We'll probably bring Ramsey, Ozil and Lacazette on and turn the game around, but ffs, this is annoying.
