Unbeliveable. I need 4+ goals in this game and both teams can't finish for shit.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
I've seen enough of this to know it's not going to work.
We can't get the ball to Ozil or Ramsey at all, so they're anonymous in this game. And since we can't get our creators on the ball, Auba and Laca are going to waste. I don't think I've seen our front four complete an exchange of passes together yet.
Not all Emery's fault because the squad he inherited has no wingers, but whatever he's trying to make here is crap.
At this point, I'm also convinced Torreira is getting sent off. He's fouling everything that moves.

Each passing day it becomes all the more frustrating that we never went full force for Mahrez before he joined City.
But nooooooh, Wenger placed his faith in Iwobi

That is the worst offside decision I've seen in a long while. Everton have genuinely been *bleep* there.

I simply do not understand how it seems to be impossible to have Ramsey play differently than as a quasi striker.
He basically stands upfront all the time, isn't it in his skill set at all to have him contribute to build up and linking midfield and attack?
It's NOT a discipline of positioning issues clearly, since both Wenger and Emery have him doing this

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
The role he has now is quite close to how he's used for Wales. He's creative, but he actually isn't all that useful in the build-up because he takes too many touches and has erratic passing. Even though he has more technique than a lot of Welsh players, he's kept away from the build-up.
It certainly needs some tweaking, but I can see the logic in it. He's become less of an all-round midfield player (maybe all those muscle injuries have prompted that) and is now an AM who's only effective in the final third.
What makes it worse is that the balance around him isn't right. He doesn't attack space as much when Auba is on the left because they're aiming for the same spaces. And the 10 space is taken up by Ozil (though it seems in this half Ozil has been told to hold the width more).

Is he 'effective in the final third' though?
To me it rather seems he's getting in the way of your other more effective AMs

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
He was double figures for goals and assists last season iirc. But as I said, the balance around him isn't right.
At the moment, it's a case of throwing all the best players on and hoping it works rather than committing to getting the most out of one or two.
Something will give eventually, I think. I'd argue that Ramsey isn't necessary if you have Ozil/Auba/Laca but he's a hard player to leave out.
He's gonna leave on a free anyway so it'll be moot in the end.

We have such a lethal front two, we just need to get a winger, improve on Ramsey and Ozil and improve on defensive players as well.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
Does anyone else feel the same? For me it seems that Kante is playing out of position. Kante thrives in his comfort zone at DM when he is not involved much in offensive plays, but right now in this new advanced position he doesn't seem comfortable at all, he doesn't seem to like it too much. Yesterday he was even more advanced midfielder than Kovacic and he doesn't look good to me so far in that role. But if Sarri takes Jorginho from that DM position, then it's not Sarriball anymore and he would need to completely change his system which I don't think anyone thinks is happening.
Maybe I'm wrong though, maybe Kante will be more important against tougher opponents or he just needs time to get used to this new position, but he doesn't look good for now.

I do notice Kante's positioning being a bit wayward but to be fair Jorginho is absolutely vital for Chelsea's attack.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
We're definitely in a fight for top 4 this season, anything above that will be a miracle barring a collapse from (disgusts me to say) Loserpool or City. I think third and fourth are up for grabs though. We were never winning the title so it doesn't particularly matter outside of bragging rights. Just so lethargic and the exact same issues from last season are here in the final third. Draining my enjoyment of football tbh. Need the Mou nightmare to end, but the issues run far deeper than that.
asking Santa Claus for a MASSIVE offer from China for Alexis this Christmas, hope he listens.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
It's not really a Kante positional issue, more so that Jorginho doesn't track his runner defensively.
It would actually work quite well if Jorginho was more disciplined. I like Jorginho's game a lot but this flaw can be an issue when it really matters.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
Yeah but Sarri plays Kante too forward, he looks lost in his new position. He looks like he's being asked to play in a role he isn't comfortable in. In his previous role he was world class and now he looks average, Kante is being wasted there. Kante just isn't good on the ball, if you ask him to do anything more than winning the ball and passing it to other creative players he becomes useless. You can see how uncomfortable Kante is so further up the field, so often he has to play around the RW area and around the final third and he looks utterly lost there. Right now for me at least it seems Kante has no position in a Sarri team.
