Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part II
Too early to tell about this Spurs team but that wasn't a Spursy performance. Pretty clinical, didn't give up much, and did it all away at a stadium they rarely win at. All without playing very well overall. I missed the first half too where apparently they were shite.
Alderweireld back in the team too. This on the back of two wins where Spurs got 3 points without necessarily playing at their best either.
Wondering if Spurs are finally maturing.
Either way, this is good for Spurs because their biggest flaw the last couple seasons has been dropping points early in the season.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part II
Hmm, I think most of the players except a few had a very good attitude today and to be honest Tottenham was very very clinical and a bit lucky with the first two goals which came in a moment where if I'd have to pick the better team I'd say the balance was inclined for United. At the other end, United was the opposite of clinical, wasting a couple of great chances to score, one at 0-0 and one at 0-1 and had many more attempts which just didn't go our way today. After the two goals, defense looked very poor (especially the CBs and especially because the team went up the pitch trying to come back), but the overall attitude was much better than I would've expected. Disappointed with the result, but not with the team overall. The game against Brighton was much much worse and not even comparable to the one we saw today. This is just how I see things. Mourinho not to blame, no fault from him if you think about the goals. The rest, could've been better, but I can't complain that I didn't see a team trying and fighting.
Congrats Spurs for the three points!

After 3 games, who has a brighter season ahead of them? Arsenal or United?

As long as Mou is at United, Arsenal for sure.
Playing guendozi aside, I haven't minded the way arsenal look. It hasn't been amazing, but to me they look a step better than last season already. I think Emery will be good for them.
Mou is a trainwreck

Btw, this was Mou's worst home defeat EVER I read? Still remember not that long ago, he really did have an incredible record, something like no home defeat in 10 years or something like that.... amazing how he kept that record for so long.... but things over the longer term simply play out and dont last forever. This rest of his career probably gonna be more failure than success like he had in the past... unless he moves to lower level league/clubs Im guessing.

It will be just amazing if Poch wins title ahead of all hyped teams as title contenders
I think if Alderweireld and Vert play together the whole season, they will surely not finish outside top 2.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part II
Hmm, to be honest, for me the discussion about the title is between City and Liverpool, based on the squads, the coaches and the style of play, but knowing Guradiola, his success and what Man City achieved last year, they are clearly favorites to win it. Chelsea is a team with great potential and they shouldn't be disregarded at all. Tottenham is also very strong and has built homogenity through a few years of consistency when it comes to how they play and their squad members, but for various reasons I believe these two teams are a few steps behind the other two. Arsenal is rebuilding and with Man United we don't really know what's happening, but for the moment everything's collapsing.
I expect another great season for Man City and if Mendy and their core players stay fit, they could easily be a contender for the Champions League.

lets see if they have inherited more DNA from Chelsea or Arsenal. But for me they wont go far in other competitions so they would be closer to City than any other team in EPL till the end.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part II
I would wait till 10 matches are played before I talk about Liverpool. I am really happy with being hyped about individual players but it all seems to be just initial excitement created by people outside of the club.Vlad the Impaler wrote:Hmm, to be honest, for me the discussion about the title is between City and Liverpool, based on the squads, the coaches and the style of play, but knowing Guradiola, his success and what Man City achieved last year, they are clearly favorites to win it. Once it dies down and we have 1-2 players injured as every year we will see if we survive.

If Moura can explode and Wanyama can stay healthy so they don't have to play Dier at DM Tottenham can win the title IMO. Moura feels like a new signing anyway
But when Tottenham's stadium is done and they start collecting dat $$$ and can spend on big players I think Pochettino will surely bag in at least 1 or more major trophies in the upcoming years

Last year they gave a spanking to Real Madrid and finished above them in the groups and were narrowly defeated by Juventus, I wouldn't count them out easily tbf.

West Ham losing to AFC Wimbledon in the cup thanks to a goal from a player called Joe Pigott.
Pigott, of course, is a Southend United hero for scoring an equaliser in a play-off final.
West Ham playing the likes of Yarmolenko, Perez, and Hernandez tonight.

The FA has lent its support for safe standing in the Premier League and Football League:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45341192
Depending on the government's assessment, safe standing could be a thing next season.
