So our government is backing America fully in all things Syria.

Murica oppose the Assad regime, Russia support the Assad regime. British government allow the sale of the chemical weapons to the Assad regime, and come out mostly in support of Trump when trump attacks the chemical plant allegedly used by the Assad regime.

The Government was accused of “breathtaking laxity” in its arms controls last night after it emerged that officials authorised the export to Syria of two chemicals capable of being used to make a nerve agent such as sarin a year ago.


so it was not nerve gas but chemicals capable of making nerve gas. so its a bit like selling steel and aluminium that can be used to make bombs and guns.

Amended, I have now changed it to "nerve gas components", doesn't make it any less shocking though...

I'm not spinning anything. the report says components that can make nerve gas. components can be made into lots of things like I said. steel and aluminium are components that can make guns and bombs but is the same as selling guns and bombs ? no I don't think so.

Once again you are missing  the point entirely... If there is a risk that component A would be used to make nerve gas bombs, don't you think the UK should not approve that transaction?

Its nothing new, UK thrives on the arm exports in the Middle East. This has been brought up a number of times on GL, How are people surprised.

Britain is always accused of being directly responsible for the deaths caused by Saudi's in Yemen. They've exported 1000m of Arms while importing 900m of Oil.

well it depends on if the component can only be used to make nerve gas. fertilizer and bleach can be used to make bombs so maybe the world should stop selling bleach and fertilizer.

A majority of Britons oppose a unilateral guarantee for EU citizens living in the UK to be able to remain in the country after Brexit, a Sky Data poll suggests.





It comes as Labour said they would give such a guarantee on their first day in office were they win to the General Election on 8 June.

Some 55% oppose such a deal; 44% say that they should only get it if UK citizens in other EU countries get the same guarantee, as the Conservatives have argued; while 11% do not think EU citizens should be given such a guarantee even then.

Just under a third (29%) said they backed a unilateral guarantee, while 16% were unsure.

Le Pen may end up getting crushed almost as much as her father was. I don't think Fillon and Melencon voters fancy her. Both candidates have asked their voters to back Macron as well. But I wouldn't be surprised if she won still. Nothing can surprise me anymore after Trump.

It's basically the fate of the EU resting on this election. If Le Pen wins, that's the end of the EU, Germany will probably follow suit. If Macron wins, the UK will suffer Brexit and will be hung out to dry.

Low key one of the potential essay questions (I have a choice from 3) is: "Do you agree with the decision of the United Kingdom to exit from the European Union? Provide evidence to support your case"

You guys think this is pretty straightforward? Is there ample evidence thus far to be able to convincingly argue one way or the other (I'd argue I don't agree with it, tbh). I'm asking you guys mostly because you guys are more aware, being citizens, of the potential consequences of Brexit than I--although I did follow it while it was going on.
