Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
#Higuain is getting closer to AC Milan! The deal will be completed soon: Leonardo Bonucci to Juventus, Higuain and Caldara to AC Milan #transfers #ACMilan #Juventus

The CBs for Juve were WC... 3+ years ago lol. What's the average age now?

Chiellini 33/34, Benatia 31, Bonucci 31, Rugani 24, Barzagli 37(he's in almost pre-retirement mode)

So is Juve back to the 352 or is Chiellini getting benched?

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
Chiellini is the new captain of the club. No way he gets benched.
I think we'll mostly play back 4(Bonucci-Chieliini) with the occasional 3 at the back(Rugani/Benatia-Bonucci-Chiellini)

But Benatia was really your best CB last season I thought...

Chiellini by far IMO. He was world class. One of our best players last season.
Benatia started out poorly but was rock solid for a good 3-4 months until he made some crucial mistakes in big games(Madrid, Napoli etc) and subsequently got benched for Rugani.

Chiellini wasn't only our best defender but also our best player of the season. He even said himself that he felt it was the best season in his career.
This was the only season of the BBC era where it wasn't even a debate who our best CB was. Benatia is too inconsistent.

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
Ok well that's about the slowest Cb pairing out there... no pace whatsoever. The way the game has changed where the scorers are now the pacey wide players as opposed to the CFs a lot of times... i think that's going to be a tough ask for that pairing. They'll be fine in Serie A where there's not much pace... but in CL it's tough.
And keep in mind CR is basically a poacher now... so you can't expect him to create for himself. He needs to get service. So you need a good midfield to help him.
You guys have big names... but mostly on the wrong side of 30, Dybala and Pjanic aside. Concerning at all?

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
When did the game change? if up to summer of 2018 Chiellini was a monster then, and did his best work, did he become too slow for the fall of 2018? Benatia is not faster than Chiellini or Bonucci. Both of which are fast enough.
Lets not forget that this year we conceded 12 goals in CL this season. 1 year ago with Bonucci-Chiellini at that stage (QF) we had only conceded 2 goals, and final included we only conceded 7 total.
These two together are the least of our worries.

Biggest change at the back will be at GK where we'll have a better keeper in between the sticks compared to (Buffon's) last season

We do, but not concerned by it. Every season since the old core got old (BBBC, Licht, Marchisio, etc.) the management has been slowly bringing in younger players as change. We are going through smooth transitions of the team. Most of our players are younger now.
Licht, Alves, Buffon, Storari, Asamoah, Evra, etc. gone others going soon (Barzagli, Khedira, Marchisio).
Szczesny, Perin, Alex Sandro, Spinazzola, Rugani, Dybala, Pjanic, Costa, Bentancur, Can, Bernardeschi all came in.

Costa(27)--Dybala(24)

This is a younger team than last season's Real Madrid starting eleven. I would argue CR has as good a support cast as he had at Real Madrid.

He's going from playing with Benz and Vazquez to Costa and Dybala first of all.
Cancelo, Costa, Sandro and even Cuadrado are all fantastic crossers which CR could get at the end of. Bringing Bonucci in could free up Pjanic to play further forward. All these players are not some run of the mill jobbers. You dont need 10 creative players around him to get the best goalscoring output from him.
But again, i'm talking to a guy who bases his opinions from games he's watched 4-5 years ago and presumably barely watches any Serie A or Juventus games so obviously you'd consider it insane.

He had the best midfield in the world behind him at Madrid.
Pjanic would be like 5th choice there matter about Can or Matuidi lol.
So yes you are insane, also all the players you mentioned there's a superior version at Madrid except Dybala.

when CR is pissed there is no one doing the dirty work for him up top, you will drop Costa and Mandzukic will start. at that point fans are gonna complain, why did we sell HIguain again?

That's the other thing, you can shit on Benzema all you want but at least Ronaldo could play off him. He needs that desperately, he can't play as a CF at all.

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
They will find out the hard way, that's if the serie A is competitive enough, but judging from previous years not really.
CR at this point of his career needs a water carrier. I really dont understand why you are letting Higuain leave, that's like weakening your team on purpose.
