What timing from the great man. Knew this team was on the downhill and he couldnt have chosen a perfect time to call it quits and keep his record 'clean'. GOAT decision making.
Would love to see him coach Juventus one day.

In time to replace Deschamps after his inevitable disaster in the WC.

Re: OFFICIAL : Zidane resigns as Madrid manager
Imagine he takes over France NT and wins Euro and WC with them(very good chance that happens too)
WC, CL, Euro as a player
WC, CL, Euro as a coach too ? ufff
He'd become the true alpha-male of football

Re: OFFICIAL : Zidane resigns as Madrid manager
unexpected but what a calculated move from Zidane
cemented his legacy on the back of CR7 etc and bouncing before the team slumps massively in the near future
now the question is, does he retire period and go down as a GOAT or be proven a fraud at a club like Chelsea, Juve etc in the next year or two
Perez to finally land the elusive Wenger? uffffff

Getting out before the world realises he's a fraud like the previous bald fraud?
I see you Zidane, maybe he's smart enough to not come back to prevent possible fraud exposure

Thinking about it, France NT is definitely a good choice for him to cement his legacy even more. Proven cup-specialist, golden generation of young French players, GOAT man-manager. There are ingredients for him to become a success on NT level as well.

Now he can ride on this success for the rest of his career, he really did pay attention to Pep‘s conferences

People wanted him fired last season when Madrid was topping La Liga and still in the CL.

According to 99.7% of the GL he was going to be a flop IIRC

Re: OFFICIAL : Zidane resigns as Madrid manager
Surprising. Difficult to imagine he fancies another job in club football. Maybe he wants the France job, then, or just got tired of coaching.
I also find it a little hard to believe that the reason he's leaving is the state of the team. Sure, the squad needs additions but this is Real Madrid we're talking about, surely there will be cash available for new signings.

I'm very interested to know the reason behind this sudden and radical change of heart. I bet it's something that happened sometimes over the past week because he looked very interested to stay before then.

Re: OFFICIAL : Zidane resigns as Madrid manager
Wow, just wow. Woke up to seeing many RM players saying on instagram that it is an honor and a privilege to work with ZZ, not fully understanding he was leaving until I pulled up the official news. Unbelievable. Even if we would have lost the final I would have thought we would have held on to ZZ for at least another year.
I suppose this is good timing tor him, I just wonder if Perez knew and has someone lined up. Seems unlikely.

Re: OFFICIAL : Zidane resigns as Madrid manager
Zidane doesn't strike me as the type of guy who takes Florentino by surprise and hangs him out to dry. So there are three possibilities to this sudden and inexplicable turn of events:
1.Zidane told Florentino he was going to leave at the end of the season months ago and Florentino has already someone lined up.
2. Zidane and Florentino had a falling-out over transfers or something and they both decided it's best to end it here.
3. Zidane wants to leave while he's still on top and doesn't want to be there when everything goes belly-up.
I'm inclined to go for the third option to be honest.

Re: OFFICIAL : Zidane resigns as Madrid manager
All I can say is Bale and Ronaldo with their outburst right after the win... rumor is he asked for Madrid to give them a strong rebuke and he was told no.
He felt that letting players run their mouth like that isn't acceptable and he would lose control of the locker room.
Also, wants more control. He had no control over transfers. It's the opposite of what you guys are saying... he wanted to rebuild but he wanted power to do so and not be slave to someone else's personnel decisions. He was refused that.
My guess is that he has something already lined up too.

Re: OFFICIAL : Zidane resigns as Madrid manager
No I don't think that's the reason he resigned. Remember last year when Ronaldo threw a bottle and threw a tantrum on the touchlines because Zidane subbed him off? Or when Bale didn't like being substituted and didn't even shake his hands last year as well? If that didn't him make resign, then these tiny outburst didn't cause any ripples either.
No, I think it has a lot to do with transfers, sports. I think the club wants to make a big overhaul and he doesn't want that. He wants to keep the same squad.
Of course these are all speculations, but Zidane has always been faithful to his players.

Re: OFFICIAL : Zidane resigns as Madrid manager
He wasn't happy with that either DoC. The Bale and Ronaldo thing were the icing on the cake. He'll never throw players under the bus... but there was a lot of unprofessionalism this year that happened behind closed doors.
The decision was a shock to his staff too btw. And not a whisper. This was a very sudden decision. Nothing like this stays quiet if it's been decided for a while and other people know...
