Vieri for Crespo ... one of most brillaint goals I've ever seen in CL
The Ajax star was Van De Vaart, he looked like even better than Zlatan , unreal

A historic team who won the CL in '91 knocking out a club owned by Red Bull. Football won tonight.
The problem is Red Star has 1 home game ban without attendance in european comps because fans did stupid shit in qualifications. Imagine if they play Liverpool or some other big club in that first game, I will be pissed.
Totally agree.
The Salzsburg CL curse is unreal though ,It's like their 10th time that they try to qualify and they never do it
It was incredible today.
Not even Schalke + Leverkusen together would be capable to get a similar football suicide

It's easy to forget how good a talent van der Vaart really was back then.. the raw talent was insane. Who could've thought his career would play out the way it did.

because there's a possibility that we won't qualify for CL next season or we don't even progress far enough in the CL to get a marquee matchup
rather have the opportunity for forum bragging rights than none at all

Won't be much of a bragging contest in that case because you gonna get smoked by either team lad
Half expecting you to draw Lokomotiv from pot 1 tho

The only team I'd like to avoid is Liverpool. The reason being those feckers don't show mercy. Other teams might feel bad for us after a couple goals and pull back a little, but Liverpool feeds on smashing teams. I want none of that.
Also, Spalletti will get fired the moment we exit the cl as I have a feeling a drubbing is coming our way. Now I'm anxious and regrett us being in the CL. Brozovic and Naigolan pivot, Perisic Lautaro Keita with Icardi up top and we might even surprise. But my man Spalletti will play Vecino 100%.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2018/19 discussion
Or it is going to be a deja-vu. in 98-99 we began very bad ( and finished likewise) the league even though great expectations, faced Real Madrid reigning champions on group (we were back in CL after 10 years) , we beat them 3-1 (that Roberto Baggio match) but or coach was sacked after some days .
Anyway calma bruh, how can you regret to be in CL after 7 long years. Enjoy it.
It's true what you say about LFC, but it's same reason why I want to avoid those Spanish teams ( Real is not going to be friend after Modric deal ) and City.
I already wrote that I desire to play a good CL, not even " pretend" to go on this year, first of all I want to avoid bad impression
Probably the ideal scenario is " two big teams " and 1 scrub .
If it goes well , you get elated.
Otherwise you are in EL.
Ok , Bayern Manchester United Bruges . i'd take this.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2018/19 discussion
first time back after 7 years
man, from someone who knows what it's like to be in CL for years and years and then miss out (not to the same extent), it feels so strange huh, I mean we've all, most of us anyway, been there
it feels good to have some excitement on a tuesday/wednesday night, I get as hyped as I did when I was a kid when that theme hits
Europa league is not the same at all
I hope we all get entertaining enough groups, I think as bad as we are this year with Mou and that uncertainty, even if we get our usual 'easy' group, it will tense and exciting for me
I hope Loserpool get a group of death though

Re: UEFA Champions League 2018/19 discussion
We played CL since 2002-2012 , so for 10 years in a row (and 1 victory ) , it looked like an ordinary thing , you never though to lose this privilege (please, 3/4 places, others must be worried if ranking falls at the expense of Bundesliga, I said it. ) that I wasn't even angry when we played EL after years. I mean , it looks like a new thing. New and old, because it was still my first trophy won as fan in 98. So not a dramma... but
it did not take me a long time to hate it. Endless oblivion. Not even I watched Napoli and Roma matches because I thought they were in place of me. Just Juve because I had to support other team tbh
I didn't think to feel again the pleasure of waiting a CL draw.
I feel as if my club is back in its place.

That's exactly my concern. I'm fully confident in our players ability and talent, but they have weak mentality or they're mirroring their coach. Spalletti is known in Uefa comps as the guy who lost 7-1 to Utd. I want none of that. If we are gonna exit early, I want us to do that with pride and exit with our dignity intact lol. Anyways as I said already all teams but Liverpool and I'm good with that.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2018/19 discussion
I really want a hard group draw for Man United to be clear from the beginning if the team deserves to play in the KO stages or not. If they stay in the competition after a death group, then ok, very good, if not, at least we know from the start the team doesn't deserve and is incapable of even trying to fight for the trophy. Of course, all of us think United wouldn't get past the group stages if they face strong opposition, but you never know and now is really the time to find out if there's at least something good in this team.
So I prefer facing for example Bayern, Valencia and Inter because it will be spectacular for sure and it will be a tough and a much needed honest real challenge in the group stages for the squad. We'll either get a good performance and become aware that there's still hope for this team, or we'll finish last and get rid of Mourinho, perfect scenario to change something for the better.
What do you think guys?
@Firenze, @Glory ?

Re: UEFA Champions League 2018/19 discussion
I want a marquee name but not a group of death
one elite side and a couple of decent ones sounds good
I'm honestly bored of having meh groups consistently even if we usually don't wipe the floor with them
I'd agree with your reasoning's for a Group of Death but those can be challenging even for teams that have gone on to win the tournament/reach semi's over the years

Here we are
Yeah you' re right
In 1st POT there are 7 big teams so you accept it, but drawing LFC on 3rd POT would be tragic
Pls not
