Re: The Official Dwayne Wade <<<<<< you thread
This is the most ridiculous Woj pick announcement so far
Denver has been seriously considering Michael Porter Jr., with No. 14, league sources tell ESPN. They're deciding now.

Surprised the player comp for Porter wasn’t Paul Pierce, both probably gonna be most known for riding a wheelchair

Source: Utah Jazz have no plans to pass on Grayson Allen with the 21st pick.

Re: The Official Dwayne Wade <<<<<< you thread
I like it. I was reading the Bucks reddit to see how other Bucks fans feel. Seems mixed. Some are about it, some aren't.
The primary complaint was that we "need stars" and Donte won't be one. To be sure, they're right about Donte probably never developing into a star. I don't think anyone would dispute that. However, I would argue that it's difficult to draft a "star" at 17 (sure they happen, Giannis and Kawhi were at 15, we all know about Draymond, but it's rare). We need players, on good contracts, who we can surround Giannis with who can make an impact. We have a generational player, but we don't have any players to surround him with other than Middleton (and MAYBE Jabari if he fulfills the potential he once had).
We need shooters. It was clogged every goddamn game against Celtics because they knew our gameplan was to get Giannis running at the paint and let him do something, and if that doesn't happen go to Khris. They knew our role players wouldn't do anything. They didn't, either, for the most part. Donte is a shooter and even better, he's a shooter that can shoot off the dribble. Everyone else we have is spot up.
So getting another shooter, one who looks like he can contribute immediately, I'm a fan. I'm sure Budenholzer was highly involved in this pick, and from what I read, the Suns and the Spurs were both looking to draft Donte. Those are all good signs to me.
This signals to me though that Bucks will be looking to trade for a center. We can't continue with Henson, Thon, and Zeller. I think the FO knows this. I'm not sure who though.
EDIT: Bucks fans are forgetting that we took Brogdon in the second round under similar circumstances. Guy had played four years at college, was a fantastic player at that level but everyone knew he wasn't going to be a star. We took him knowing this and a couple years, a ROY later and he's a player who gets us 13/3/3, can handle the ball, make plays, shoot the three at 40% and has potential to get better. Nothing wrong with taking a player like Donte instead of a project. Our last two "projects" are DJ Wilson and Thon, who as of right now are failures (unless it's the playoffs, where Thon turns into a good prospect).

I will say this though:
I won't be surprised if Bucks trade Donte away for a center or some other player tbh
And if we can use Donte to get a decent center or someone like Kemba, I'm fine with trading him away.

Moe Wagner is a beast offensively. Gets boards, he's big, aggressive, and he has a great stroke (streaky though). Legitimate stretch 5
With that being said, I'm worried about him on defense, especially at the NBA level. He wasn't even a good defender in college, other than just being a big body.
I remember giving the Josh Hart pick a lot of praise last year. This one I'm less sure about. He's talented enough to prove me wrong though

Re: The Official Dwayne Wade <<<<<< you thread
So we drafted this:
6’11 potential stretch 5
6’8 PG backup (possible stash)
6’8 SG with dino arms
Happy with it. Moritz looks good and everyone seems to like him. And he works hard and is ready to play right away. Can see him getting solid minutes this year and he fits perfectly with Randle.
Good Lopez replacement.

Gonna post this here because no one in general section will get it
No matter how hot or cold his team’s finishing has been, manager Gareth Southgate has essentially turned into Brad Stevens. Southgate explained that the nature of basketball was interesting to him, because of the way it was five-on-five and yet players always managed to find space around the basket. He spoke to coaches about the timings of their runs and the way they could legally screen opposition players to create pockets of space, and studied footage to see if he could transpose that to football.
In particular, Southgate believed he could use similar theories with free-kicks from out wide and from corners. Players would offer dummy runs and feint in one direction before moving, each player having strict instructions and so too the set-piece taker. Watching England’s fourth goal on Sunday, you could see that theoretical plan in wonderful practicality.

Seems like an over analysis... but cool nonetheless
Feinting runs on free kicks/penalties or having schemes isn't necessarily something adapted from basketball
Let him lose Kane and whoever England's second best player is [knock on wood] and then we can start to compare him to Lord Bradley Stevens of House Celtics
its coming home

I learned stuff like this as a kid in a football club with shit coaches who didn't start watching or knowing anything about football until they were 35 and they had a kid who wanted to play
lmaooo if Southgate actually took time to watch basketball thinking he could apply it to football or set plays

Paul George made a 3 part documentary about his decision
The third part is to explain the reasoning behind the decision
I think I'm nearly done with this league, unless he signs with Toronto and part 3 is just him, Drake and KD chilling out listening to Scorpion
