Re: Wenger to step down
Now Arsenal absolutely have to win the EL. Only way to properly send this man off.
Shouldn't be overlooked that the statement didn't mention retirement.

Re: Wenger to step down
just saw this on twitter
what a terrible picture, looks like an embarrassed old man caught doing something wrong
How true are the Patrick Vieira rumours?

Re: Wenger to step down
I've been very critical of him over the past 4 or so years and anyone criticising any Arsenal fan of doing the same are utter *bleep* morons.
With that said now is the time to celebrate the man as the legend he is rather than dwelling on the decline that eventually happened to him.

Re: Wenger to step down
I've been calling for this to happen for a couple of years now, but I'm still sad. Literally every great memory I have of Arsenal is because of Arsene Wenger. So there's relief that this is happening, but also a tonne of gratitude and respect. I think that's the case for a lot of Arsenal fans, even the ones who have been more aggressive in their abuse.
It's a shame that our final game of the season isn't at home. Burnley will be his last home game. Huddersfield away is his last league game (at least there's some historical connection between us and them). Hopefully, his last game will be the Europa League final, especially as he's yet to win a European trophy at Arsenal.
Also interesting to note that nowhere in his statement did he mention retirement. He could rock up somewhere else for all we know.

Re: Wenger to step down
by the way this is not sad for football at all, what was sad was seeing a legend of the game leverage his power to keep a job he should have left years ago, results have not been good for years when you look at Arsenal's place in English football. He used his power to stay, made fans miserable, almost became a pun, and lost a lot of respect from a lot of people... oh well

This is often said, but rarely as true as now.
It really is the end of an era. What a man, what a manager.

It is really. Especially when nowadays you see poeple encouranging the sack of a coach who won 2 CLs and 1 championship in 1 and a half years of managing because he failed the retain the league the following season.
Spending 22 years at one of the biggest clubs in Europe is huge. He is very much responsible for Arsenal being a top club in modern football and for creating the best team in Premier League history. One of the best football managers of all time and it's not even a question for me.

Thanks bro.
I just hope we don't *bleep* it up with his replacement. But at least the new manager will be assessed properly like every other manager.
