Re: Gattuso Sack watch
Is his role just caretaker manager until the end of the season or was he actually appointed?
If so, this will be Seedorf all over again.

Re: Gattuso Sack watch
WTF is going on at Milan? They keep appointing former player after former player with no coaching credentials.
Do they think they are Barca and can get away with it or what?

It's the same story everywhere that fires a coach mid season. If the head coach is fired or has to step down mid season they often get someone "from the house" that requires the least amount of adaptation and appeases the fans.

It is very rare in Italy, unless few games missed. Otherwise you always sign a "real" coach (even Benevento did it with Zerbi. Then the quality can also be not good, but you never sign a youth team manager).
I ve seen so many sacks in 20 years of Inter, also during the year, but we always signed a Lucescu or a Pioli...

Just appoint one of your current players as the next coach. Might as well help save money.
Eagerly looking forward to witnessing Suso's coaching skills

Re: Gattuso Sack watch
Apparently Gattuso tried to resign today because of the lack of reaction by the players after the loss, but was convinced by Fassone to remain in charge- Mediaset

Re: Gattuso Sack watch
squad is "in retiro" until further notice
honestly theres no better coach right now to give these embarrassments a good kick in the ass
(last time this happened the manager was sacked the week after)

The problem is, the players clearly aren't buying into Gattuso. I actually expected a knee jerk reaction like so many interims have had short term success before him.
I always knew that Montella was no the problem nor the solution but that even Gattuso cannot get an emotional response from the players, given the personality he is speaks volumes to the club right now

Re: Gattuso Sack watch
for sure
he is going back to basics, i still think we are on a deep plunge and it has to get worse than this for us to realize how dire everything is
My only hope at the moment is for gattuso to stay until the end of the season. we would even be smart to miss europe next year, and focus on the league entirely
honestly 200m spent and were actually worse off than last year

Re: Gattuso Sack watch
I've never seen $200 million pissed away so badly in all my years on this Earth. Milan surely had the absolute worst summer mercato ever recorded versus money spent.
Donnarumma is gone for sure. Bonucci must be crying right now.

I disagree. The squad is overall of more quality than last season. I think there were definite improvements they were just hampered by the expectations that come with such an investment. It was a complete squad overhaul with not 4-5 signings to combine with a few quality players that were already on the team. No, it was many signings expected to form a new core of the starting 11. A new captain, new defenders, new midfielders and forwards. I can't think of a team that has replaced that many players in such a short time. Juve has routinely switched 4-5 pieces each summer but the core was always there and the management has been constant, so its not really the same.
The miss was not having the right person in charge to bring it all together. Montella was out of his depth. Gattuso is probably not taken seriously because while he has the credentials as a player, maybe he lacks the understanding as a manager. I am surprised he hasn't lit the fire under the Milan players though, that is honestly very surprising to me.
Its easy to look back in hindsight and say that Kalinic or Calhanaglu should not have been signed and you wouldn't be wrong, its not even redeemable at this point. Anyways, its better Gattuso suffers now and doesn't remain than plays a decent 15 matches and repeats this godless cycle next season. In the summer, I bet Milan begins with a manager this time.

Re: Gattuso Sack watch
Far be it for me to make recommendations for Milan, but at some point a club that is attempting a resurgence needs to have a period that it is managed by a professional with experience. Gattuso, great player, but his biggest managing job was Pisa. I am surprised that the Milan management is so naive.

Re: Gattuso Sack watch
Apparently an "intensive" boot camp awaits
That's what you get when your captain is a traitor. Lose 0-3, no one in the squad gives a flying fk ??
Can't compare this to Gattuso who gave his blood, sweat and tears for this club.
