Warrior said something about this in the NBA thread that made me laugh out loud. Along the lines, Pep say to Joe : What do you mean get rid of the ball in 24 seconds wtf

He might change his mind in the future, but its kinda strange recently how hes renewed... when he n the team seemed to start to lose interest... n burnt out or whatever... come to think of it, he will prolly eventually manage England NT at some point?

Huge shame if true but the man is burnt out to a crisp as I wanted to see him manage in Serie A and Roma at that, his old club but pipe dream.

First time Man C not the CL favs by the bookies in a long time... could really end up trophy-less in his remaining time at Man C if he doesnt turn things around...

No need to worry. Will thrash us this weekend with Rashford, Dalot, Bruno and all those morons gifting them goals on a platter. Would be their springboard this season to return back to form and go on a run.

Re: Pep Guardiola - King of the Carabao Club
It feels like recent form is the result of poor recruitment post treble. Too much of a focus on niche signings for specific games rather than rebuilding the floor of the team. You sign Kovacic and Nunes to combat M2M high pressure, but disregard a Rodri backup when Rodri had played the most minutes in the last 3 years. Resigning Gundogan when the physicality of the midfield was already awful was a bad decision too.
Signing Doku and Savinho to combat low blocks instead of replacing the G/A you lost with prime Gundo, Mahrez, Alvarez, and potential Palmer.
I think what made City so effective in the earlier Pep years was his ability to recycle the team. Post treble he became soft. Walker has no business being on the team anymore and should’ve been let go to Bayern. He only kept him for the one-off games against Mbappe and Vinicius lol.
I don’t even think it’s a City thing but a Pep issue. He’s the one who wanted a small squad. He’s the one who didn’t think signing a Haaland backup or Rodri backup was worth it because those backups will barely play.
Honestly I don’t think City’s performances have been that bad. Yes the results are awful, but in terms of chance creation they’re still there. Haaland is going through one of those poor finishing streaks and no one’s there to pick up the slack. Last year it was Foden, but he’s out every few weeks with a “virus” and Rodri’s injury means he isn’t accessed through the pockets as he frequently as he used to, which has reduced his effectiveness a lot.
Rodri covered a lot of cracks. He was influential in every aspect, but the biggest one is he added physicality and size to the midfield and helped prevent them from getting overrun. Now they have Rico, Bernardo, and Gundogan defending against counters and they get shrugged off like little kids. They’re always losing duels, and the defense seems to concede every chance against them.
Injuries have been a problem, but the bigger issue is with a small squad when you have an injury crisis you end up rushing players back sooner. This just leads to more injuries. They’re also running guys Rico, Gvardiol, Gundo, Bernardo, and Haaland to the ground with all those minutes they’re playing. Theoretically you tend to compensate with your youth academy, but City have sold their best prospects and the ones they’ve played have not been that convincing.
To me it’s clear they need to ride out this poor form until January and sign a DM who can actually run. Don’t make the same mistake you made with Kalvin Philips. Get a runner who can also build up play under pressure.
Once you have that added physicality in midfield + key starters coming back from injury they should pick up form again. That said a clear out in the summer is required regardless. The following names are all potentially on the chopping list:
Ederson, Walker, Stones, Ake, Nunes, KDB, Gundo, Bernardo, and Grealish.
Ederson is not reliable, Walker is finished, Stones and Ake too injury prone but I’d keep Ake, Nunes was a panic buy, KDB contract expiring and injury prone, but I’d keep him, Gundo lost his legs, Bernardo needs reduced minutes, and unless he’s being converted to a full time CM then Grealish has to go too.
Lots of changes need to be made and I’m not sure if the clear out will all happen in one summer, and with the FFP charges looming over their heads that complicates matters even more.

Didn't you lot tell me the hipster is a tactical mastermind? Where's his hipster tactics now? Imagine losing to Juventus in the CL. Top. Kek.
Re: Pep Guardiola - King of the Carabao Club
6 PL’s in 7 years and a treble, but a moron like Turok will champ at the bit. How is he a hipster if most of the top coaches more or less are now all heavily inspired by his tactics?
Are your posts in the Madrid section as retarded as this one? I swear I lose brain cells every time I read your posts. Complete clown.

Re: Pep Guardiola - King of the Carabao Club
Didnt realize the problems are so many n deep... I havent watched Man C consistently this season.. n prolly cos they won so much I just forgot some of the past issues I had with Pep n the team n some of the players also...
Dunno but it seems lot of the time the longer a coach is in charge after winning lots n the players age, it gets harder to keep renewing the team, but I recall Fergie all those yrs at Man U always able to renew the squad fairly quickly even if he had a bad season or two... he made bad judgements with players over all those yrs but mostly were able to adjust n get many others right... Pep in comparison this season has just made to many mistakes in too many areas... seeing likes of Gvardiol playing CB nowadays just highglights this for exmaple

900 million to 2 billion euroes to achieve that when city was already winning the premier League before him but sure. Whatever you say, m8.
On a more serious note. The poor hipster looks like he needs to take a sabbatical. I trust his mental health is alright or at least he's making sure not to get totally lost in the sauce.

Shut your butt lol. No way city gonna sack the hipster. He's the best thing that's ever happened to them and the best thing they will ever get in their miserable history.
He is far more likely to resign or mutual termination of contract. Resignation watch be more appropriate.

I'd be shocked if they have the balls to sack him. 6 league titles plus a CL and 55 Carabaos in 9 years will be tough to sack at the first sign of a shit season. They'll ride it till the wheels fall off, thankfully. Or he'll resign first since I don't think his ego can take being sacked.

Seeing the thread title now shouldn't it be changed? He won a treble didn't he even though it's with government subsidies? Carabao club seems awfully inappropriate.

The admins are MIA or what? Isn't BC, RO, and JD around?
The hipster should force haaland to make public amends for that "stay humble" jape. Seems city is gonna remain being "humbled" until he does.

We really need that name change ffs.

He just renewed his contract for another 2 seasons. I doubt he’s going to get sacked anytime soon, although as a non- fan of City, I’d be excited to see them play a different style of football.
