Re: Juventus 2017/2018 Serie A and Coppa Italia thread
I enjoyed both Milans tanking for the better part of a decade but they really need to get back to the top 3/4 now
Napoli finishing 1st/2nd is terrible for Serie A. They *bleep* throw CL and even EL games (Not that they're capable of too much more there) with their squad selections and are always on a light schedule. Both embarrassing the league in Europe and competing for the league and league only is kinda pissing me off.
Hope their small team mentality destroys them within the next 5 years.

What a great match day yesterday was! Wouldn't be surprised if our last gasp win rattled the Napoli players a little.

I like it, we have 3 games in the next 7 days but all are very winnable matches. After Udinese, we have our re-scheduled match with Atalanta on Wednesday (not interfering with the CL rounds so I know how I'll by spending my afternoon), and then SPAL away on the weekend, which actually may be tricky.
I'm not sure I agree with dropping Dybala but he did play two intense matches back to back after being out with injury for some time, so it makes sense.
Everything else looks good, glad to see Marchisio's name. I think in a game like against Atalanta, I would like to see Sturaro play, they have a combative midfield so if there's ever a time for him, this could be it.

Marchisio needs to play an extended run of games now that Pjanic is suspended for the QF 1st leg. We need him more than ever now.

So the media (based on training) got 100% of the midfield wrong
Lineup:
Szczesny; Asamoah, Chiellini, Rugani, De Sciglio; Bentancur, Khedira; Mandzukic, Dybala, Costa; Higuain
Kinda weird. Max must want to score quick and slow down early.
RIP Marchisio. Can't believe its ending like this. #1 thing I dislike about Max is how he is treating him. He said he wouldn't wear another shirt in Italy so I guess he'll go abroad.

Anyone surprised by Dybala?
Hopefully that's enough to show he's a different beast when he's played as a striker and not a damn trequartista.
He is not a trequartista like already said many times, he can do it but he's more limited there and can't use his excellent shot accuracy.Seems like Allegri has already figured it out.

He was a trequartista today for 75 min until Higuain came off and he did great.

He has played a lot more on the left wing. vs Tottenham as well.He has more freedom to move now but my point is that it's clear he's more deadly and effective when playing closer to Higuain , as a striker , preferable on the right.

If you mean he needs to be as close to the goal as possible, then I agree but without Higuain, or another #9, this is not possible. He's always going to be better off of a focal point like Higauin and the combination was shown today on our second goal, against Tottenham for our second goal and even in the build up against Lazio for Dybala's goal

That free role next to the striker is exactly what a trequartista is. Like Del Piero. Its where Dybala is best. His interpretation of the role changes as its free. The closest he is to Higuain when attacking, the best, except when he is the one launching a counter.
Imo we play about 1000x better with Higuain than without him, so its wonderful that the two of them form this partnership.

Re: Juventus 2017/2018 Serie A and Coppa Italia thread
Yep exactly. Lately he has a lot more freedom especially since we switched to a 3 man midfield and he returned to play just that role. He seemed limited and more fixed on his position back when we had a 2 man midfield and he was forced to go deeper wasting a lot energy.
This new role fits him better, he has more space and freedom to attack on all fronts without having to do much defensively since we have an extra midfielder (3).
His combinations with Higuain are amazing lately and I'm pretty sure they will keep coming if Allegri decides to play Dybala just like this.
I'm not saying we should play him as a lone striker as he doesn't have such qualities to be a no.9 but him and Costa changing positions left and right through the game is proving to be very effective for them and Higuain as well.
Higuain finaly is showing every game and has provided goals and assists plus doesn't seem that much isolated like before. That was frustrating to watch.I think so far Allegri figured out how to make things work better for both Dybala & Higuain.

Napoli dropped points. Now we are 1 point ahead with a game to play against Atalanta.
Incredible run by the team. 14 games in the league conceding just 1 goal, wining the coppa semis and going to the QF of the CL. All in an injury crisis. Well played Allegri.
Allegri said Bernardeschi would get checked in 20 days to see if he is good or needs surgery. Cuadrado was gonna go to a specialist in Germany. I guess those two might not have much of an impact in the rest of the season.

The team is peaking at the right time but we need to find a way to lower injury chances for our players. Our training intensity might be higher than anyone else in Serie A at least so that might be the reason.
If we can recover both Cuadrado and Berna that would be great as at this part of the season we need to rotate our players more often plus both of them have been quite good so far.

Interesting discussion about Dybala
To me he should remain as a TQ for the moment. His main attributes are attacking: ball control, dribbling, vision of play, passing, curve. I like our current setup where Higuain is supported by Dybala, they complement each other well. Higuain is stronger & bigger and a he is a prima punta, while Dybala is the creator and often a good finisher too.
As a permanent winger ? i don't like it, too much left-footed. But i really don't mind if he goes wide during the course of play, in fact i even appreciate. The trequartista role allows that.
My dream setup wouldand could have been Higuain CF and Dybala-Bernardeschi behind him in double AM roles.

Juan Cuadrado and Federico Bernardeschi are expected to be out for at least another month and could miss the remainder of the season.
The duo are long-term injury absentees with Cuadrado not having played a game since Juve’s 1-0 victory against Roma in December 2017.
Gazzetta Dello sport report that the Colombian winger is struggling with a groin injury and while a recent visit to Germany to see a specialist did not reveal any further issues, he may be out for at least another month.
Juve coach Max Allegri alluded to the idea that Cuadrado may miss the rest of the season following the Bianconeri’s 2-0 victory over Udinese yesterday:
“We’ll see how he responds to the latest tests, if he’s out for the final stretch of the season then we’ll have to do without him.”
Allegri also addressed Bernardeschi’s recovery as the winger is expected to be out for at least another month with a knee ligament injury:
“Bernardeschi will have more tests in 20 days, at which point they’ll tell us if he needs surgery or not. We hope not.”

We play Atalanta in like an hour. It'd be nice to win and have some breathing room in Serie A for once.
tuttojuve cite a few changes since the last game.
Buffon; Asamoah, Chiellini, Benatia, De Sciglio; Matuidi, Pjanic, Khedira, Costa; Dybala, Mandzukic

Seems a bit unnecessary to play all the forwards together and tire everyone out.

With the way Atalanta plays, I thought for sure we would play with three midfielders
