They are never fixing pro clubs. All they care about is UT.

Picked this up primarily for The Journey and Career mode. Neither have let me down so far.

Looking at some stats, Isco has 88 finishing and 83 agility. Cavani has 83 finishing.

Modric is 89 overall, while Kroos is 90. hmm

Good goals imo. Central overload with the Robben goal.

Thimmy wasn't lying when he mentioned how the players move and turn

definitely the heaviest they've ever felt in a Fifa IMO

Yeah, I just see it as a really half-arsed attempt at tricking the consumers into believing that the game has become more true to reality, when all they basically did was to make it feel like the players are running through syrup. I'm sure Kick and ES disagree with that assertion, but I really don't see how the game has become any more realistic than past iterations, bar a few really minor features. It's an alright FIFA game, but I don't appreciate this kind of approach to making the game seem more realistic. Whatever they did to the collision physics, did nothing good to the game.

Issue before was it felt like the players were gliding / skating across the pitch. Was a bit too arcadey imo. Haven't played the full game yet, but the gameplay on the demo is the most realistic version of FIFA I've played.

Yeah, the gliding was annoying, but it didn't occur constantly. I didn't really notice any of the things I dislike in FIFA when I played the demo. The frustrating collision physics and the, in my opinion, really unrealistically slow movement when you attempt to rotate the player you control, or move defenders in any direction - it wasn't as apparent how bad these things were until I had played the full game for a while.

Don't you say this every year with regards to the demo though lol?

It's always apparently more realistic and then suddenly full release comes around and everyone has 99 speed.

The fundamental issue is that they can't seem to get the pacing of the game right. Clearly, they want the game to look and feel somewhat realistic, but it's always either too fast and "arcade-y" compared to reality, or it's significantly slower than reality. Then there's the issue with turning around at snail pace, and gimping the action to reaction on defenders, which I believe they simply did in order to make attacking players feel like superheroes. So much for realism..

If they really wanted to create a realistic football simulator, they wouldn't put 90% of their effort and resources into improving Ultimate Team before everything else in the game.

I've long given up on hoping Fifa will mimic realism, because it's almost impossible for a few reasons.

So I'm just glad it's a Fifa which is fun to play attacking football Thumbs up

Don't particularly care about Realism tbh, I just don't particularly find recent editions fun.

But MT clearly does(with regards to Realism) so it is what it is.

I enjoyed 15 more than 14, as well. I'm pretty sure I prefer 17 over 18 also. I'm guessing you have a preference for the more slow-paced FIFAs, kick? I wouldn't have minded the slow pace of FIFA 18 so much, if it wasn't for how slowly you're able to rotate the player you control, coupled with their decision to gimp defending, for whatever reason.

I have a preference for passing over dribbling so the turning doesn't bother me.

14 was excellent for over the top through balls, so I abused that and loved that Fifa for it.

17 was too defensive and my career mode constantly had bugs so I didn't like it what so ever.

the fact I put an insane amount of hours into 17 and I'm still suffering burnout is probably a large factor, but I'm not a fan of the way it plays, players feel very clunky and ping pong passing (a staple of Fifa games quite often) is absolutely essential IMO. I've mostly been playing on World Class/Legendary in FUT, it's basically the only way to beat the AI.

They nerfed the AI defending in 18, which is an improvement, but I personally feel like you have less 'freedom' in how you approach the game and have to rely on ping pong passing if you want success at a high level.

maybe I'll return to it in the future, I imagine they will patch a lot of things to make it a pace fest again though, same as every year

Completely agree with Firenze. I'll be playing FIFA 18 regardlessly, but I'm not a fan of how it plays. The "running in syrup" style of gameplay doesn't appeal to me, and I don't feel that it makes the game feel substantially more realistic either. It's just not my cup of tea. I'm sure they'll patch it and make it feel more like 15/17 at some point, though. FIFA 16 was slowed down a lot when it was first released, and I remember 1 or 2 people on here claiming it was the best FIFA yet, before they patched it and basically turned it back into what FIFA 15 was.
