Re: UK General Elections 2017
we have one true friend and ally left in the world the USA. and we can kiss that goodbye seeing as Corbyn is blaming 1500 years of terrorism on 30 years of british foreign policy its safe to say he will no longer work with the USA on fighting global terror. and I wonder what will happen to our nukes that this pussy wants to get rid of. I'm just glad this fool was not pm in ww2 or I would be speaking german now and I struggle with English ffs.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
The DUP have agreed to form a government with the Conservatives.
So the party who spent all campaign accusing Corbyn of a history of supporting terrorism are going into an agreement with a party with a history of supporting terrorism. Wonderful.
Conservatives just having a majority sounds preferable to this ffs.

DUP got 300k votes and 10 MPs
Greens 500k votes and 1 MP
UKIP 500k votes and 0 MPs
Cameron's decision to sabotage voting reform still kicking the UK's ass. Best PM of our times

What a mess
Conservative DUP coalition oh lawd
There's gonna be yet another election in the near future imo.
My area once again voting conservative, despite being by and large full of people from the benefits and working class end of the spectrum
Same people gonna be going 'wer muh benefits at the government is shit' in a years time but voted Conservatives because a billionaire newspaper owner or 2 told them to.
Bravo.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
Would be better if newspapers weren't given free reign to actually make stuff up without even hiding it.
Freedom of press and speech is great, but it's being abused by those at the top to influence idiots. It's a tricky one because if you start regulating newspapers then the opposite extreme is something akin to Nazi Germany happening but something has to be done about papers like 'The Sun' who sprout made up shit to tap into peoples anger and people lap it up.
It's amazing listening to peoples reasons for voting Consevative when they're piss poor, some honestly thing the government that took everything away from them and gave tax breaks to the mega rich will fix the problems that they created.
I actually heard people projecting everything they hated about the current government on Corbyn, like he was somehow the reason for austerity measures.
Speaking of austerity, we've cut just about everything and our debt has risen The only argument you can make for such drastic cuts is that it lowered our debt. Maybe it would if they taxed big businesses a reasonable amount too.
Getting my education, which i'm being disgustingly overpriced for. Then moving elsewhere probably.
People from older generations that left school at 16, easily walked into an entry level job and earned enough to support a family and buy a house calling out younger people who need to get themselves into 60K of debt, study at an advanced level for an extra 4-5 Years and get into an ultra competitive market just to get that same standard of living is *bleep* hilarious.
Or alternatively you have the older people that got the same level of education for free or a few thousand pounds, complete with grants they never pay back and walked into jobs with ease back when a degree was prestigious.
Thankfully i'm doing a degree that helps with getting finance sector jobs, something the UK usually cries out for. Sucks for others who pretty much need to do a masters or even a PhD just to get told they still don't have the required work experience to get a half decent grad job here. I used to think it was just the liberal arts 2.2 degree holders that ended up back working in shops and bars, but it's people with strong 2.1 degrees from fairly strong subjects now too
5th 'biggest' Economy in the World spread out over a tiny Island and somehow every generation the standards of living gets worse and we earn less despite inflation. Country is going to the dogs at this rate.

Tory accusing Corbyn of being an terrorist sympathizer while going into a coalition with DUP, talk about irony.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
I didn't even know who the DUP were until today. Turns out they:
Want to teach creationism in schools
Believe homosexuality and sodomy are worse than paedophilia and child abuse
Think the world is only 6,000 years old
Hate Muslims
Are anti-abortion
And have a history with Irish terrorism
Now we've got May calling them friends with a straight face.
And she's still rolling out the strong and stable line. As if there's anything stable about all this .
Can't wait for Brexit negotiations to be delayed as we have our 1000th election of the year.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
Strange old world Politics, a resurgence in a Labour vote has created a vacuum where we're now left with a desperate conservative party teaming up with a party in a different country with 100 year old backwards views to get a majority.
It's going to be a disaster, and then we'll get another election. Anything less than a labour majority and we're even more *bleep*.
Not because I believe Labour are amazing, not because they can hold all of their promises. But because the Conservatives I.E the only alternative believe sucking money away from everybody bar the top 1% and still increasing our debt is a good strategy.
Country is going to be devoid of so, so many skilled workers in 5 years time. Why toil here with the deck stacked against you unable to even think about buying a home despite holding a masters degree and a solid grad job when you can go elsewhere and compete on something remotely resembling an even playing field?

You're passionate on the whole anti-terrorism front, and I am too.
So explain to me why Saudi Arabia, I.E the biggest cause of Islamic terrorism and the spread of extremist views are being propped up by the UK AND our great allies the USA with arms deals?
And after that, explain to me how it's a good thing. I have news for you. Our glorious conservatives talk a good game but help fund the very same people that are the root cause of terrorism on our streets. They go to Saudi Arabia, pose, smile and share each others company. And you think the current governments will all of a sudden wake up and do a complete u-turn on this?
Conservatives are currently the biggest terrorist sympathisers in the country, and Trump who talked a great game pre-election has completely u-turned on his Saudi Arabia stance. He's compliant with them too.
Murica want to bomb the shit out of ISIS? Good. Hope they make them *bleep* suffer. But at the same time they're killing 20 members but funding 200 more by way of proxy thanks to dealing with Saudi Arabia.
USA/UK are funding terrorism better than they're fighting it. I thought Trump would at least hold on his anti-terrorism stance, but he's going to do everything in his power to not directly blame Saudi Arabia.

There is much in this post that I found myself silently nodding in agreement to, even in the broader context beyond the shores of UK. Top post Tom!

Sounds similar to USA selling billions of dollars worth arms to KSA and asking them to tackle terrorists all the while when KSA been funding the terrorists.Jay29 wrote:I didn't even know who the DUP were until today. Turns out they:

The more you find out about DUP, the more depressing it gets. May is dancing with the devil. They are going to hold her ransom for everything lol. She wants their votes in case she needs to pass something in the house of commons. But they will blackmail her instead
They are the worst of scum.
And they are going to help govern our country.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
how cool would it be if people didn't have to vote for the lesser of 2 evils but instead ticked the boxes of what they want from a government and see what party could accommodate the wishes of the people. example would be the people say they want more money spent on schooling and health care and each party say we can spend x amount of money on that but we will have to take the money from such and such are you happy with that. then we get to pick what cut backs we would like to see to pay for the things we want.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
They say all people are created equal, but when you look at me and you look at Theresa May you can see that statement is not true.
See, normally when you go one on one with another politician you have a 50/50 chance of winning. But i'm a genetic freak and i'm not normal! So you got a 25% at best chance of beating me. Then you add Jeremy Corbyn to the mix and your chances of winning drastically go down. See the 3 way at Westminstermania you got a 33 1/3 chance of winning, but i got a 66 2/3 chance of winning because Jeremy Corbyn knows he can't beat me and he's not even going to try.
So Theresa May, you take your 33 1/3 chance, minus my 25% chance and you got an 8 1/3 chance of winning at Westminstermania. But then you take my 75% chance of winning, if we was to go one on one, and then add 66 2/3 per cents, I got 141 2/3 chance of winning at Westminstermania. See Theresa, the numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for you at Westminstermania.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
Incredible from Corbyn. The garbage era of Reagan-Thatcher, 2 disgusting vile bought politicians is truly over & the era of New Democrats of Clinton & New Labour of Blair is also over.
Like FDR, Truman & the New Deal coalition which dominated global politics, this is a comeback to the progressive era. Record support from young people & amazing turnout.
The old racist dinosaurs & baby boomers are dying & are being replaced with a young progressive generation. Good luck conservatives, this is the era of Sanders & Corbyn.
