actually thinking back, the 90s was GOAT for tons of genres

horror, romcom, crime, action

movies since 2000 can't compare IMO

the best movies since then can but the sheer number of quality/enjoyable movies pumped out in the 90s was ridiculous

I've seen Pulp Fiction.

I'm not going to comment on it more than that.

Pulp Fiction is to me what Fight Club is to RG.

Btw on 90s movies, what are your lads' thoughts on Titanic?

No homo, I love that movie and I never get tired of rewatching it when its on TV. Its three hours but the narrative is so well paced it feels like a hour. Very well told story, a very likeable lead surrounded by a good cast of characters that you can't help but root for which is what makes the ending so heartbreaking. Also for history nuts its pretty good too because of how accurate the destruction of the ship was despite the leads being fictional. Very good effects too, as good as what we see nowadays. Cameron is a genius.

One of the only movies that made me cry. Expecting to be destroyed by Firenze now.

Titanic is amazing. I love it. I was like 10 years old when I watched it and I cried ffs.

It's my top 3 for that year.

Great film tbh. Agreed. Not sure how anyone can not get emotional.

Get on the other 90s movies lad. From what I know, you have not seen Unforgiven, Schindler's List, Trainspotting, Miller's Crossing, Reservoir Dogs.

There's some you might have missed, I'm not sure. LA Confidential, American History X, The Usual Suspects, Sixth Sense, The Big Lebowski, A Bronx Tale, Forrest Gump, Silence Of The Lambs, Boyz N The Hood, Menace To Society, Jackie Brown, Braveheart, Jerry Maguire, Magnolia.

Minority Report is really good and had heavy influence on one of the GOAT anime, Psycho Pass.

When did you first watch Titanic M99, if you were a kid and crying no shame. I haven't watched it since the first few years it came out and found it pretty good. My sister also always cries when watching that movie and it's one of her favorites. No shame in it tbh.

Seen the bolded. remember very little of Silence of The Lambs but I do remember it thinking it wasn't all that.

Braveheart was disappointing as well.

How many westerns did you see that you hate the genre so much? You loved Hateful 8.

True Grit, Django and Hateful 8 were great. Lawless was decent.

I just can't stand the accents, the way they talk and usually the locations in those films. Quite a shallow reason to dislike them, i must admit, but those are it.

Hateful 8 felt different in that regard.

was randomly watching 16 Blocks last night on TV

I always thought the rapper Mos Def was a good actor after watching that movie, shame he didn't really take on any good roles and become a movie star after that

True grit was awful. Lawless was meh as hell.

Django and Hateful 8 were great though. Django was amazing even.

Lawless had good acting but just felt dull

had an unreal cast too

tbh I think one of the reasons I haven't been hungering for a western is that Justified held me down for years, Raylan Givens >

Btw @RealGunner Old Man Logan is completely inspired by Unforgiven. They even made Logan look like Clint Eastwood lol.

Also McAgger needs to see legit films like Reservoir Dogs and La La Land instead of wasting time on Passengers ffs

So far on my rewatch

Inside Llewyn Davis - 8.1 ----> 8.5
Nightcrawler - 8.7 ----> 8.8
Spotlight - 8.8 -----> 9.2

I didn't write anything for Spotlight after the rewatch but I gotto say it's sooo good. I had completely forgotten how goat level of a film it is. Had goosebumps throughout the film.

Loved all three performances though. Prefered Tatum's. That was an amazing role for him.

agreed with the bold part.

Each of us having different favourites out of the three speaks volumes of how great the acting was in that movie.

I agree. The reason I liked Carell's performance the most was because it was so subtle. It stood out more to me than the 2 brothers(who I totally agree were equally brilliant).
There was this scene in which he basically gets embarrassed in front of his old mother. The sheer pain he emoted after realizing he is a disappointment.( Lol can actually relate to that scene a lot tbh). He plays like this rich loser who wants to do something meaningful to his country but fails ultimately. Its such a powerful role that mesmerized me and ofc haunted me.
